Are you a Sec'y or clerk? Have you been asked to do something outrageous?
One of my goals is to get rid of old books. I am just looking at one titled "You Want Me To Do What??? by a former administrative assistant. Have you ever been asked to do something where you thought your boss was taking advantage of you?
I had a boss who knew that I lunched at home everyday. So everyday she would call me and ask me to stop at a store and bring something to her. Sometimes Oreos, sometimes hair dye, stockings, etc. I really hated it.
I finally stopped anwering the phone. She never said anything, neither did I.

One of my friends is an admin assistant and one of her former jobs was for this jerk of a man who asked her to lie to his wife, who she knew fairly well, about him being in the office when he wasn't there. she refused to do it and was sacked! So she phoned up the wife to say goodbye and just happened to tell her why she was fired.

oooh good one both!
I just love it when a people user gets theirs!
Vannie your approach was subtle and perfect. Did the trick, got the message across without a word.
And Rhonda, I love how accidents like that happen!!! Way to go to your friend!!!

Good greif Rhonda! I feel terrible for your friend...I'm glad she told his wife! Boy was he stupid!
Well, when I worked at Joann fabrics the manager (who had a friend flying into town) couldn't leave the store to pick up her friend at the airport. So when I came in for my shift...after a long day at work already (my current job) she asked if I would pick up her friend at the airport. I did...at least she gave me money for the parking garage.

Margery, Rhonda,
Margery, I think sometimes people think that we will do anything to keep our jobs. Rhonda, your friend was great--I love what she did. It was definately the right thing to do
