Default I start my new job tomorrow

Tomorrow I begin my new PT job! Since most of you don't really know me, here is the short story.

I quit my really well paying, benefit laden job, because I was going nuts. I worked at it for nearly three years and found it too stressful. I was also unhappy because of various ethical reasons (which I won't go into) and didn't like what I had to do to obtain the paycheck (occasional lying, not really looking at the source of my paycheck). Since my happiness was more important (as well as my sanity), I wanted to get a FT job in my field (accounting - I have registered at accountemps as recommended here but so far haven't gotten any bites), but was unable to because I don't have much experience so decided to take a PT job to get some experience.

This is the first time I have made such a gamble and never felt better about it. Between Dh and I we have about $10,000 saved up in savings accounts and treasury bonds. So in case push comes to shove we can at least survive.

We haven't been as frugal as we could have, but we've definetly been a lot better than we were 3 years ago.

    I certainly feel good though

Congratulations! I have also quit a job because of stress and ethical considerations. I think you made the right choice. Hope this new job works out for you, or at least keeps something coming in until you can land something you really love.

Good for you. I've done the same thing. Money isn't everything, you are the one who has to look at yourself in the mirror every day.

I hope the new job works out for you. At least you are getting the experience you need that may lead to a better full time job.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Well today was my first day, and it was wonderful. At the end of it my supervisor asked me if I would like to work FT because they were short handed. I said yes because I won't be taking any classes in the summer. Things are turning out much better than I expected.
