I've never been fired before!
I'm so upset. Our company was a victim of a corporate takeover and since the new owners took over, I have been extremely unhappy. I have been the victim of discrimination because I am a woman working in the shop, I have received a pay cut of $10G a year, and I have had to work more hours than ever because many people were let go. the last straw came when I questioned an ethical concern by the general manager on Thursday. I was suspended, and when I returned on Saturday, I was fired.
The office manager and company accountant have said I have an extremely valid claim for wrongful dismissal. I have never been reprimanded in my job history there. I am just so worn down from the whole thing that I feel like I am recovering from a long illness. I keep having these dorky little crying jags out of the blue.
Well, today is my day to wallow and whine. Tomorrow is time to start fresh in my life, I won't allow any more of this silliness.
Thanks for listening to me vent.

Best of luck to you. If you have a valid claim, I would see about pursuing it.

Karen,
I feel for you. Being fired feels like someone took a sword and pierced you with it. Especially when you have given your all to a job. It goes to show that when we question things that are wrong or immoral that we sometimes get stung for doing what is right. I know for sure that this will all work out for the better for you. Yes, cry today, it was a hit on your personal character, but tomorrow, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and make a new plan. You will survive this knowing you keep your integrity intact for standing up for what you believe in.
God Bless you!

I am sorry that you were wrongfully fired. Just remember, when one door closes, another one opens. There is something better waiting for you.

I was fired once and it was a devastating blow to my ego. I, too, was wrongfully dismissed, and the labor board did not look too kindly upon it. The business did not last long after that.
I will tell you, though, that it was a really good incentive to get out of the rut I was in. I hated being a commercial pastry chef (my creativity was stifled) and I ended up moving on to a wonderful opportunity where I really grew.
I know this is going to be good for you in the long run. Keep your chin up!

First of all:
Huge (((Hugs)))
The second thing is: My DH went thru this 18 months ago. He thought everything was cool at work, took a vacation, got called in on Monday and they fired him. No reason at all. Nothing in his file indicated that he was a bad employee.
This threw him into a funk! (men take their jobs soooo personal). Anyway, he pursued legal action, until he was told the this state was a right to work state. Meaning they could fire him at will and he had no recourse. It sucks! After 18 months of working at various jobs, he finally has a job that he likes and is making good pay.
Consider this a "sabatocal" and rethink where you're heading.

Thanks so much for the support, y'all. I'll tell ya, I really need it right now. I am so upset I feel ill, but I am sure tomorrow will be a better day. You sure do find out who your friends are when something like this happens. I am surprised at who has called, but more at who has not called.
I like that term "sabbatical" - I think I will adopt that, Mrs. T!
I knew I needed to make some changes in my work life, looks like this was the kick in the butt I needed.

good luck to you! This might be an opportunity for you.... who knows what tomorrow brings??? ...and think about claiming for wrongful dismissal..... what they did to you, they can be doing to anyone else.... why let them get away with bad behaviour? I don't let anyone else get away with it? My 2 cents worth only.... chin up... things will look up.

First and most important
I know the feeling and it's HORRIBLE! Especially when it's totally unwarranted!
Take this as a sign that there is something bigger and better out there that is meant for you!
And also remember karma is a very interesting thing, one day this will be returned on them threefold and you WILL hear about it, I've been there!
You're STRONG and you will come out of this on top!
