Dillema......
I apologize if this is long... but I really could use some feedback...
I am living with my cousins since I left my spouse in March. I'm in the city(ish) which I hate and as much as I love my family, it's a lot like living with ...well... family. I am working at minumum wage right now in a drug store adn selling my handspun wool that I get done when I have the time between shifts.
I have been offered an interview to cook adn clean at a remote fishing lodge. THe pay is very good, it's hard work, but seasonal. It would mean that I could much more easily find work at other lodges in the other seasons once I had completed this season. It means taht I would be able to get a little car and move back up north where I'm happiest.
Here's the dillema:
They want to interview me this week. I work at the crappy job in the drugstore this week. If I can't find someone to fill the shift, then I have to go into work, missing out on this fabulous opportunity to start my life again and then I fear that I will be stuck in the city, with a crappy job and get nowhere fast. I'm pretty sure I'll get the job if they interview me (I usually do).
\Now, I'm not the sort who calls in sick when more interesting things are happening or when one hasn't slept all night. I ahve a very strong work ethic. Which is why I'm appealing for help to make this decision.
I can't change the date and time of the interview because they are coming from out of town to do it......
Do I ditch the shift and go for the interview possibly changing the whole course of my life? Or do I go do my shift like I'm scheduled?

This is one time I agree with the others on the job interview.
I hope things work out for you and let us know how it works out.
Good Luck

I'd call in sick, too, and go on the interview. Crappy jobs are a dime a dozen. If you have the opportunity for something better, it is worth the risk.
JMHO.

Min wage in a job/place you hate or more pay in another you'd like better that will help you get your independence back. Easy choice. Go for it without regret & good luck Babs!

ABSOLUTELY go for it. This is a hands down decision. One caveat. Do not try to switch your shift and then call in sick if that is unsuccessful. Just go about your business as usual and call in on that day, or if possible, the night before.
This sounds like your shot at happiness, it really does. I know how hard divorce/separation can be, I have been there myself. If you bury yourself in a cruddy job, live in a place you hate, etc., well then heck, you might as well have stayed in another unhappy situation! You were strong enough to break free of an unhappy marraige and go out on your own, hon, this is justs the next step in reclaiming your life!
Very best of luck!

I agree with the others, call in and go to the interview. You will never know what would have happened otherwise and it sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you. I will keep you in thoughts and say a prayer that it the perfect job for you and that everything falls right into place.

If you are that unhappy at the job you have now, then if you pass this opportunity by, you will regret it. I say call in sick and go to the interview. If this truely will make you happy, then by all means, go for it.

Oh, and I used to work with several women who were subject to migraine headaches. They could be sick in bed on day, and perfectly fine the next.
Follow your heart and be happy, Babs.

I thought of quitting but the good job doesn't start until september. I need a job until then. I hate to lie, but I think I'm goign to have to pull a fast one and cry sick. I can't miss this opportunity. The interview is tomorrow. Wish me luck!
