Goodbye, business world!
Well, you guys may think I am officially nuts by now. I had been offered a couple of opportunities from a car dealership after losing my job recently. I was also still interviewing with other companies until the contract was signed. So today, went on an interview, then went to the original dealership to sign look over a contract. The interview didn't go so well, which frankly was more me not liking them -- the guy was abrupt and seemed short-tempered. So I went to Acura with full intentions of signing on. I got there, read the contract and it did not sound as good as the original offer. The money was less, the hours were more. I questioned it and they backpedaled, and I just smiled and said, "No, thank you so much for the offer, but this is just not going to work for me. I hope there are no hard feelings."
Then I came home and put the ad in the paper for babysitting. No pauses, just picked up the phone, dialed the number and paid for it by credit card. Holy cow. I think I may have just lost my mind.

Fantastic!!! I have a great site for you to check out--it's www.atozteacherstuff.com. There is an amazing woman on the "discuss" forum that goes by JenPooh. She's usually in the preschool section and she runs a center out of her home and follows a preschool curriculum. I'm taking ECE classes here and there and I've learned so much just by reading her posts. I highly recommend it!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes! If they call back I am still not taking the job. I don't do business that way. I really hate the bait and switch, and I had been pondering the whole babysitting thing for a while now anyway. That just made my decision a whole lot easier.
Thanks, Cricket for the link -- I am checking into that for sure!

Go for it Karen! I like that you had the confidence to turn that company down. I always admire that in a woman.

Thanks, ladies. I can always count on you. I do feel good about this decision. It felt great to walk away - I have spent the last 6 months in a horrible work environment and my health, my relationship with my kids, and my state of mind have all suffered greatly. I just wanted to laugh when I walked away, it felt like a burden had been lifted from my shoulders. I have gotten a couple of email responses from the ads I posted on the local hospital website already, as well as my next door neighbor is looking for occasional care for her two little ones. I talked to my sweetie who also thinks I made the best decision - he is behind me all the way.
Thanks - and I sure do say that to you a lot - but thanks for being there - your support is unwavering.
