Default Work Rant and Praise for the new boss

Well our previous "owner" is no longer with us. Bills weren't getting paid, UPS claims weren't getting paid, supplies were running low and Angie and I were taking all the heat for it and looseing our cool, and customers in the process.

Anyway, over the past 3 weeks or so we have been in a transition phase at work (one reason I haven't been on as much) and trying to get the main owner (he was the silent partner to the guy that acted like our boss) accustomed to the ins and outs of the store since he has his own medical practice that keeps him busy during the week.

Since the previous boss left claims that have been outstanding since December have started getting paid (We had the money, the other guy just slacked off and never paid them out instead he would wait until the customer called for the hundreth time threatening law suits and what do you know they would have a check a day or two later.) Now I ask you, is that anyway to run a business....one reason he was forced to give up his share and sell back to the silent partner. And it wasn't just claims for customers. Our phone/internet has been cut off to many times to count, we have a seperate long distance carrier and its been out 2 times in the last 3 months and the first time it took him over a week to take care of it, so we lost a lot of Faxing business, the waters been cut off a few times and the power co has come in to cut it off but given him and extension (while I was on maternity leave the power did get cut off and he made the emplyees stay and told them to do it all manually but they just sat at the door and sent the customers to our competition up the street....lol The biggest thing that we joked about all summer was the fact that our gas got cut off at the end of Feb. and during the cold snap in March and April it was like 60 in here til noon. The main partner found out about that just recently and as of 2 weeks ago we now have heat again...just in time.

I've since gotten a raise....its about time, and he has a new partner so instead of working 6 day's straight when we work Saturday's we finally get a day off during the week. I'll have my first weekday off since Paiges b-day in 2 weeks when its my turn to work Sat.

I hope things continue to look up since we are now managed by someone who seems to care about this store (of the 3 he has we are sort of the red headed step child.....after all last pay day they "forgot" about us and the old bosses wife left our checks at there house when she went to work an hour away).

However, keep your fingers crossed that business continues to pick up, if not after our Christmas season I may be looking for a job and with a new house to pay for I can't afford to be unemployed.

It seems like the silent partner should have been running things all along.
Glad it's looking up for now.

Wow, that's a lot of stress Kat. Glad to hear that 'new guy' is on top of things. I'll bet he has enough at stake that he'll make it work.

Wow Kat, it sounds like you have been working in mess. I hope that your new owner gets things back on track and that everything gets better and less stressful.

Thanks everyone. The new partner said that he would work my closing shift on Halloween for me (I'll open and Angie will be off since she will most likely be working that Sat) so I don't miss out on taking Paige trick or treating for her first halloween outing. He said he understood and eventhough he doesn't have kids yet when he does he doesn't want to miss out on all their "firsts" either. (If I closed I wouldn't be home til after 8 and it would be to late for me to take her out.)

That alone makes me like our newest manager right there

Wow. I hope you are well payed. I don't think I would have stayed with the gas, phone, etc. being shut off. I hope they start turning things around. What kind of a store is it?

    Its a UPS Store.

Things have been going a lot better. One of the girls at the other store said once when there phone was cut off, one of the other girls used her own personal cell phone to get credit cards authorized so that wouldn't loose sales. As for us, I just lost those sales or had people write checks. I wasn't going to waste my anytime minutes for something that wasn't my fault.

WOW! It is a wonder the store still has customers, but I am glad they do so you will continue to have a job. It sounds like things are starting to head in the right direction with the new owner. YEA!!
