I went to Visionworks and got two pairs of bifocals for 160, I think it was, and a pair of readers for 30. The frames are not the strongest, but I do not need them to be. They are cute styles. I have my eyes checked each year, the prescription changes at least every two years, and I no longer pay a lot for frames. As long as the style looks good to me, I don't care about their name. No one has ever asked me the brand name of my glasses, not in 50 years of wearing glasses!

I use glasses and I buy online. Only the frame is designer and that just means a person came up with the design. Not that they use higher quality materials to produce them. I got mine about a year and a half ago from 29dollarglasses.com and have not had so much as needed a tightening. And they send you the tool free with purchase to do just that. Mine we 59 because i have bad left eye. Like WAY off the chart bad and when you need a special lense the mark up in store is horrible. They give the scratch resistent automaticlly here. And my glasses are not scratched. And mine are cute black with Green innner framming for definition. CUTE glasses that in store would have run me about 150 for the name. And thats before the special lense. Hope this helps

i have bought both the cheap and the very nice.
the nicest were versace and the dkny. the versace were head turners and made me feel pretty.
the worst were the cheap ones "buy one get one free" from boots chemist in kingston upon thames.
buy what makes you go "wow". and you won't go wrong.
get polycarbonate thin lenses. i don't bother with the glare coating.11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I just ordered for the third time from zenni optical. So far I have been very pleased with each of my purchases and all three orders have totaled together less than $100. I have had one pair for over 2 years from zenni and they have lasted through all kinds of mistreatment. I have to agree with savvy__sniper, I will never pay full price again!!

IMHO a prescription isn't going to change with the name Ralph Lauren tattoed across my specs, so I go with form and function over brand name.
