Vent about work
I am pretty steamed at my two supervisors. When I hired on with this company I was in another department. Loved the work and supervisor but it was part time. I went through a nasty divorce and needed full time work. I got promoted to another department when the marketing coordinator left. When I took the job, my offer letter indicated I would get a salary review at six months. That would have been January. By March, I finally asked the HR director about the review. I have been sending email reminders every few weeks - still nothing. The guy hired (same dept) in October got his review and raise this week.
I have been actively looking for another job. This just floors me. I have never had a negative review with any company I worked for. To flat out refuse to do one is so out of line with my experience. Any advise?Nana to Logan, Ryver, Robbie, Grant and Dennis

Is there anyway you can go to someone higher than the HR Director? If not, have you spoken to this person directly and not just via email? I would go up to him/her and ask when you will be getting your review and see what the response is. Let us know what happens.

I agree with Tracy. There must be someone that you can talk to directly who can give you some answers abouth this.

Also see if you can file a grievance. You took the position with the understanding that you would have a review at 6 months and they have not provided you with one even though you have given multiple requests. If you still have copies of the emails you sent.... attach them to the grievance. There should be a standard set of protocols that HR follows for such things.

I have spoken to them directly. Supposedly they will schedule it to be done next week. We are a small company so HR is just one person. I have had several face-to-face meetings with her on this. I have considered a grievance, but the last guy that did- it was just a matter of time before he was fired. If the review isn't done next week, I won't see I have a choice but to file a complaint. Thanks for the support.

UPDATE: I got my review. They gave me "Fair" on almost everything (that is below Average on the score sheet). They even commented that I lacked knowledge to perform job. I responded to that as "lacking training by failure of managment to provide ANY" My boss was shocked I brought it up. He asked what I meant and I pointed out the book left by my predecessor was removed prior to me taking the job, that he did not give me direction or training of any sort but just threw me in the office and left it at that. He was pissed but also had that "Oh yeah" look on his face. I was very upset.
The good news is I had a phone interview Monday, and in-person one on Tuesday and they offered a job on Wednesday. It is a bump in pay, with another in 90 days (after probationary period) and awesome benefits. It is with a global company so there are opportunities to move up. It doubles my commute almost but worth it.
I will hand in my resignation tomorrow.Nana to Logan, Ryver, Robbie, Grant and Dennis
