Default Went back onto my career path today

I started back onto the path I stepped out of a few months ago, due to the stress I was under at the time. I'm back in training in the office at the grocery store I work at, and I love it. I hated it the first time I tried it, but my life was so bad then, and I had just had a romantic breakup. I was just too emotional, and it's not the kind of job you can be emotional in.

So I did pretty well today, and I think I'll be fine this time. This is the path I wanted when I started at this particular store. My manager and I have talked about it, and she evidently thinks I can handle it. I'm on my way (a couple of years away) to being a Customer Service Manager. I know I would be great at it, and I'm excited about getting there.

I'll miss the stockers and the grocery people, though. While I've been working with them, we've become good friends, and I will miss playing around with them. They have such a hard job, and they just make it so much fun sometimes. I'm sad to be leaving them, but they knew I wouldn't be doing that forever, so they're happy for me.

Wish me luck! Well, more like wish me patience.

hey and if anything.. you'll have a heads up on the others in your training class or session because you have experience (working on the floor) and really know what its like in the store.

    congrats!

Thanks, everyone. I was back at my old job today. I'm only training a couple of days a week right now, because they are splitting the training hours between me and another girl. Anyway, the shelves were a disaster after my not being there to keep things straight for 5 days (4 days off, 1 day in the front). I told my grocery manager that I felt like nobody had done anything while I was gone. He laughed and said "Not like you do." that made me feel good. He was upset when I told him I was going back up front. If I could lift, I'd go to grocery. It's a good team they have, and I enjoy working with them.

I asked my Asst. Mgr. how long it took for her to get where she was. She said that from the time she got into the front office, it took her about 2-1/2 years. 1 year to get on the list, and another year and a half to get a position. There are soooooooo many people waiting for management, and you just have to be lucky, or know somebody, to get in. My old manager said that once I get on the list, he'll help me find a place in his district if I want, and so did my old asst. mgr., but they work a long way from where I live, so it will be a wait for me. I don't mind. I know I'll get there.
