Default first day back to work :)

i started my new job today as one of the cafeteria monitors at dd's school. i only did the lunch shift today since i didn't get called until 8:20 and breakfast starts at 8:30. i was walking out the door to put dd on the bus. so monday i'll work both shifts. it's only 3 hours total, 1 for breakfast and 2 for lunch, but it gets me out of the house and it's extra money coming in. i didn't have to buy new clothes either. lunch is pretty constant. once the first couple of classes get in and settled, we start dismissing 2 classes at a time to throw out there trash and line up to leave. wipe tables, sweep if needed, mop up spills, start on next two classes. makes the 2 hours go by quickly.
i just need to remember to bring a bottle of water with me on monday. it was so warm in there i started to feel dehydrated.

but it was fun. i got to see dd and a few of her friends. she's 9 so it's still cool to see your mom in the cafeteria.

We couldn't survive without our "lunchroom ladies" at my school. They work hard and do some unpleasant cleaning jobs for not much money, but they are very much needed and appreciated.

Glad you and your child get to see each other during the day. My kids both went to the school where I teach, and it was wonderful, catching glimpses of them during the day.

Sounds like a busy job! That's great you get to see your Dd there! I used to LOVE when my mom would come for lunch at school when I was little!

Glad you found a job that works for you. My best friend is "the lunch lady" at a school in Houston and loves it....gets out of the house, gets some $$$, and only works a few hours a day. Enjoy!

Congratulations on the new job! It's great that you'll get to see your DD at school everyday. Yep, I remember when my two kids still thought it was cool to be seen with me. *Sigh*, those were the days.
