Incentives at work?
Do any of you have monetary incentives at work? They just announced yet another one where I work and I find that I'm more annoyed with these little "contests" than anything.

About the only incentive we have is that the RN's get $3/hr extra (on top of overtime) to work more than they are scheduled.
I think LPN's get $2/hr, and CNA's get $1.50/hr.

We have items at the end of the registers we're supposed to promote, but nobody ever does. They started including it on our reviews, which I think is absurd. It's not really a financial incentive, and since we get nothing for doing it, I don't think it should be part of our review.

I used to when I worked in a bank and when I worked in a tutoring center. It was all about the sales in these places, customer service meant nothing if our sales weren't high enough. I am thankful to work in non-profit now and no selling is involved!

I work in car rental, so every month we get commissions provided we meet our goal. What gets me is, yes, I really do believe in my product and I sell very well too because of that. BUT if my goal isn't up there because of the volume of customers I have dealt with I run the risk of making over 10, 000 dollars for the company and gettong zilch for that. Um, isn't my primary job to wait on the customer and do it quickly so they can enjoy their vacation or get on with their business????/

Where DH works there are not contests, but there is a monitary based performance annual bonus.
All employees are given annual performace based bonuses. The amount an employee is eligible is based on their position. The CFOs, CEO, Presidents of certain departments etc... get a bonus equivalent to 25% of their annual salary as a base amount. Supervisors of Accounting(what DH is), Directors of Finance, claims adjusters, underwriters, and the better insurance agents get the equivalent of 10% of their annual salary. Secretaries, staff accountants, bookkeepers, mail clerks, janitors, cafeteria workers, receptionists all get 5% of their annual salary.
An employee gets the full amount if their annual review is ranked as average or better. If they are ranked as slightly below average their bonus is cut to 75% of what it would have been, below average is cut to 50% and anything under that they are not given a bonus at all. As you can see, even the lazy, do nothing employees even get something.
Out of 1500 employees around 75-85% get full bonus. Only one person ever did not get any bonus at all. But it all worked out for her - The employees all raised over $5000(the amount she would have received after taxes and deductions) in a matter of three hours and gave it to her. She really got the shaft from her immediate boss on her review. She made her portion of the review so bad that when her other boss gave her his part of the review it could not help bring her number up. The female boss was a total b*#@H. Everyone knew it and that is why they banded together for her.
DH's full bonus is a little under $10k before taxes and deductions each year. The taxes and deductions are around 33%.
Plus, every employee gets a Christmas gift from the company - a $200 check.
At DH's level and above each employee is given anywhere from 5-10 days at one of the company condos for free. The employee can choose to use the beach condo or the ones in the mountains.DD (19)
