I don't like my new job
Ok back in May I got the job at the hospital and absolutely loved it, well it was just a temp position until the girl came back from maternity leave. She came back the first Monday in August and I had to find a new job. Well I got a perm. postion at the hospital and I was SOOOOO excited.....its a Unit Secratary/Nurse tech positionthree 12 hr shifts a week 7pm to 7:30am.Wellllll....I have been doing it for the past month and I HATE it. I always have to tech and I am already sick of it. I don't really mind the hrs so much. DH says just to keep thinking in six months well now 5
I can look elsewhere in the hospital for straight secratary job. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hon, I'm so sorry! I've had that happen. Went to a company as a temp, then got on permanently and everything changed. Seems people can be nice for only so long, then their true colors come out. LOL
Have you tried talking to your supervisor about whether or not this will be what it's always like? Maybe they are just shorthanded right now, and needed an extra pair of tech hands.

I am sorry your not liking your job much but I HAVE felt like you in the past until I had found a job I loved but of course they sold the company and everyone got laid off, gosh how I wish I could go back.

Sorry to hear this! Hang in there. Over a year ago I got a new job that I absolutely HATED. The wise people on here told me to give it 6 months. I almost didn't listen because I hated the job so bad and wanted to quit. Anyway, I gave it six months and wound up loving the job--I'm still there 13 months later.

i hate to hear you hate your job. keep your eyes and ears open and hopefully something else will come along.
im also a unit secretary --in a ccu unit. and my hrs are 7a -730p too working 36hrs. i work 7days and then off 7days. im on call today since there aren't enough patients for me to be there
this low census thing has been going on for too long and im beginning to worry about my paycheck!
i like my job--i just mainly put in orders/keep paper stuff stocked and help with what the nurses need help with. the bad thing besides not getting my hours is the political stuff going on right now.
i wish you luck--its hard going in to a job you hate. i've been there before.

I took a job that I hated about six years ago and stuck it out for four years knowing my day would come. About two years ago an opportunity came up and now I love my job.
I hope things work out for the better for you.If You Find Yourself Dancing In The Rain

I hope your situation changes and things start going in your favour! I kinda agree with hubby though, just try to stick it out and keep applying for new openings as they keep posting them...you WILL find your 'spot'.

In the hospital where I work, the unit secretaries all work day shift. I'd definitely mention to my boss that the position isn't what I expected. The boss may not know what goes on at night and may not realize you're having to tech each night. If that doesn't help, keep your eyes & ears open for other positions. Hospitals have huge turnover rates!

I am sorry you are going through this. I found a temp job in May also and I will be permanent on October 1st in a new position within the agency. I am hoping things won't change much, the thought has crossed my mind though.

I'm sorry, and I also agree that you should probably stick it out until you can apply for other positions in the hospital. Meanwhile, remember there is a REASON we get paid for going to work....
