We have a teacher who was let go and left an opening for a 2nd grade boys teacher. (Strictly his own fault, he was given plenty of chances to get his act together and didn't.) Also, we already have our contracts for next year. Our principal wants to know as soon as possible so she can know how many teachers she needs to hire for next year. She's wanting to start the accreditation process so she's only interested in certified teachers (nor required at all schools here in Kuwait).

Our school offers a good salary, free housing for overseas hires (I've been in one of the apartments and they're nice), the apartments are in Salmiya, the restaurant and shopping captial of Kuwait, health insurance (plus once you have your civil ID you can visit the Ministry clinic in your area and pay only 1 KD (3.50 USD) to see a dr., get your meds, tests, etc.). There's shuttle bus that takes you to and from school.

Kuwait is a conservative country with lots of family-oriented activites. Amusement parks out the whazoo, malls, souks, restaurants (including fast food chains from the States as well as Applebees, TGIFridays, Chili's, etc.). There's a huge expat community and several good English-language schools with both American and British curriculum. Our school offers American curriculum.

We're Ajial Bilingual School. It's a great school. I love it. I really didn't want to start teaching last year. I'd had a horrible last year in the States before homeschooling our son. The school I taught in over here last year was horrible. But I love this school! I don't mind the weekends and breaks being over (I'm sorry to lose the extra sleep of course). I enjoy my school. Of course I teach 2nd grade girls. They're easy. But even if I had little rugrats like last year, I have support here I didn't have last year. I enjoy my colleagues.

The website is www.ajial.edu.kw. There's a way to send your info to them through the website but I don't know how often it's checked. If you want, just send it to me and I'll forward it on to the principal, Demetra. My address is e.ghanem@ajial.edu.kw.

I know this thread is for working women, but if you know any men interested, please let them know.
