Pueblo CO or Garden City KS anyone?
Hey everyone!
It's been awhile since I've posted, but I was wondering if anyone here lives in (or has spent time in) either Pueblo, Colorado or Garden City, Kansas. If so, what's it like in both places? I'm curious about cost of living, public transportation, things to do, community feel, safety...anything and everything you want to share.
I'm curious because they are the two places which I have/will be interviewing for zookeeping jobs. I interviewed for the Pueblo Zoo about 1.5 weeks ago, and should find out next week about the results. I have a phone interview for the Lee Richardson Zoo in Garden City, Kansas tomorrow (Saturday).
Now an interview doesn't mean a job offer. But I am curious about people's impressions of the areas. I won't have internet access again until Sunday night -so keep the input coming and I'll reply to the answers when I get back from Easter.
Happy Easter!

I have not lived in either, but just wanted to share some websites.
city-data.com has information like crime rates, average house costs, and things on every city you could name.
salary.com has a cost of living comparison guide, that could be helpful. You can enter how much you make where you are now, and it will tell you how much you need to make in a new city to have the same lifestyle. it will also tell you what the average pay is for a job in each city.
Hope either of these help.

I love in CO, not Pueblo though. I have a bunch of friends in Pueblo however. They seem to like it well, there's loads to do, and there's all kinds of public transport. And as well as the Pueblo Zoo, there's the Cheyenne mountain Zoo and the Denver zoo, all with in an hour or so from each other. I gotta say, The Cheyenne, and the Pueblo zoos are my favs. The cost of living in Pueblo is really right about average.

Thanks for the input guys! I have used city-data.com a TON and think it is a great resource for a lot of information. I haven't tried the other one youo mentioned, but I'll have to look it up.
I had heard both sides of the story about pueblo. Some have said that it's a horrible, ugly place to live...and others have said it's great! From what I've read about the city and area, it sounds wonderful to me. I have to admit, of the jobs that I've applied to and gotten interest from, that's the job I hope I get the most.
If anyone else has any input, let me know!

the neat thing about co is it's availability to nature. Pikes peak, Royal Gorge, Arkansas river, etc etc
