inexpensive christmas ornaments
Hi all,
Sad to say, but, I am craft illiterate. If you could share some small inexpensive christmas ornaments and crafts-that even a novice could do, I would be grateful(TIA).

Fun Foam is the greatest craft medium for novice and expert alike..... I love it...it cuts smooth, glues well and lends itself well to the imagination..... I made lots of really great snowmen and Santas using fun foam..... You can use it for anything !!!
Do you have a theme you'd like to do ????

Here is an easy craft:
"Rudolph" Dog Biscut Ornament
You will need:
1 large dog biscut
1 brown pipe cleaner
1 very small red pompom
1 small set of wiggle eyes
1 small red bow
1 9" piece of 1/4" wide red (or your choice of color) ribbon
craft or hot glue
Directions:
Take the brown pipe cleaner and bend it in the middle, then bend each end to resemble antlers. At the center bend glue on to the back of the dog biscut. Next, fold the ribbon in half and glue also to the back of the biscut for a hanger.
Glue the wiggle eyes, red pompom, and little red bow on the front for "Rudolph's" face.
If you have a dog in your family or the person you are giving it to does: you DEFINATELY want to hang this at the TOP of the tree.
(My dog still tried to get to it even after it was 10 years old! :yuck
My mom did this one and she is COMPLETELY craft illiterate!

Here is another one:
Santa Ornament
You will need:
1 light bulb (I recycle the ones that have burnt out, any size or shape will work)
small amount polyester fiberfill
1 3"x3" or 4"x4" piece of red felt (depends on what size light bulb you use)
Acrylic paint in the following colors:
Flesh tone
Red
Black
Blue
White
Paint brush
16" piece of ribbon or gold cording (for the hanger)
LOW temp glue or craft glue (low temp because you are gluing onto thin glass)
1 white puff ball
Directions:
Hold the light bulb upside down (the bulb portion will be hanging down) and paint a circular area in flesh tone, next dab your brush in the red and blot off on a paper towel and put a blush to his cheeks. LET DRY
When dry, paint his mouth with red, outline eyes with black, and fill in with white and blue for the iris, right in the center of the eye put a tiny dot of white. LET DRY
Take the square piece of felt and shape it into a cone, glue on the seam. Take the ribbon or cording join the ends and glue together. Take the puff ball and glue on the tip of the hat.
Set aside.
Next start gluing the fiberfill all around the bulb, for his beard, up the back of the bulb, for his hair, and very carefully on the face for his moustache and eyebrows. Also glue some all around the base of the hat . LET DRY
Next take the hat with the seam at the back place the glued ends of the hanger against the seam, fold the hat seams together with the hanger sandwiched in between and glue. Then glue the hat opening on the top of the light bulb.
Note: When I say LET DRY, acrylic paint and low temp glue do not take very long at all to dry. You want the blush on his cheeks to be blended, but his eyes and mouth to stand out. The white in his eyes gives them a "twinkle".
Also make these out of all different types and sizes of light bulbs. The long skinny ones you use in a chandlier are really cool, but any will work.
Happy Crafting!

Clay Dough ornament....

Sequin Ornament (I am making these this year using 3 different colors of sequins per ornament - turning out very pretty! - I am not spelling out anyone's name the way this site suggests, just covering the entire styrofoam ball with sequins)....

You can fill clear glass ball ornaments with potpourri. Just remove the ornament caps, use a pencil to push potpourri down into the oranment, and replace the cap. I found large bags of potpourri at Dollar Tree for $1 each.
You can fill clear glass ball ornaments with decorative ribbons. Remove the cap, use a pencil to push lengths of ribbon into the ornament, and replace the cap. One of my friends is doing this using patriotic themed ribbons.
Here's a great site with tons of ideas......

You can make a real pretty garland by purchasing some (*) (I can't think of what it's called) like thin rope/drawstring stuff - it comes in Christmas colors - they have it at WM near the Christmas ribbon (fabric) and (*) some of the ribbon, I like the kind with the wire. Also get (*) some cinnamin sticks (bad brain day today ladies), (*) candy canes and (*) peppermint candies (the round wrapped ones.
Take a twist tie or other piece of wire like stuff and hot glue each end in to an end of a cinnamin (why can't I spell that?) stick and bend it in 1/2 so you have an upside down "U". Using your ribbon, tie this on to your "rope", next tie on a candy cane, seems like I had something else on mine too, repeat the sequence to the end. Using your hot glue gun, hot glue the peppermint candy wrappers directly to your rope, I put one between each item I tied on. VIOLA, a pretty, inexpensive garland!
Sorry so mixed up, I hope you at least got the idea!

One of my favorite things is the little unpainted wood cut outs that ac moore sells for $.20 each, they can be painted, glittered, used as ornaments, gift tags, invitations etc.
