gifts for men - your POV?
ok so i'm asking for your point of view (pov) on whether or not these gifts for my dh would be good/bad/unappreciated/etc.

i was thinking specifically some polos, some undershirts, some plain tees to wear 'round the house, and maybe a giftcard to buy some shoes/slacks (that way he can try 'em on and see if HE likes them.)
it's not all i'm doing for him, i've got some homemade gifts and am thinking maybe some pb cookies (his fave) and whatever else comes to mind.
(it's blank tho most of the time!)
so what do you think? is that too person/impersonal??
i'm a horrible gift giver.

Well, speaking as a male, I generally see clothes as a must have, with little interest in what they actually are. To men, clothes are a necessity, to women, they're an accessory. Men like man accessories.
But each man is different - so I can't be sure how he'd respond specifically. If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Yup... Old Man is getting some clothes under the tree. He asks for them believe it or not.
A few years ago, I made him Amaretto, Kahlua and Baileys. It takes some time, so if you are going to do it, start NOW
I thought about making it again this year, but we put a $20 limit on each of us and I am just about there now.
For some ideas, check this site out, you basically pick the personality and it suggests stuff (ya, they aren't targeting us frugalies, but the ideas can be adapted to fit)

I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

My dh would be thrilled if I made him clothing. He's always asking when I'm going to make something for him when I show him things that I've made for the kids.
I think what you have are wonderful ideas, especially since you're making his favorite cookies too.
What types of things do you usually give him?

I always have a hard time finding something to get my DH! Men are hard to buy for IMHO!

I hope not because dh gets a similar list each year.

i can think of any kind of gift for someone I DON'T know... but if i know you well, I'm clueless! lol
I dont have a huge budget, so the stuff I'd LIKE to get isnt always what is gotten... so clothing or small gadget or movies are about the "fanciest" i give.
it's hard for me to think of unique stuff, that's useful, practical and wanted.

I give CDs, DVDs, tools & clothes to the guys (DH, dad, nephews, in laws). Most seem to like what I select... often I ask for suggestions. As far as the tools go it can be anything from car stuff (jumper cables, car detailing items) to drills, flashlights, plier sets, sanders, wrenches & anything else they mention or would use. I forgot yard stuff like wheelbarrows & all. One year I got DH those ramp things you drive the car up on to change the oil & such. Not the most exciting gift, but he couldn't figure out what it was... plus he uses them a lot. Not every gift has to be fun, some useful ones are good too. Maybe a prepaid cell phone, video games, books or something to do with a hobby would make a great gift.

Persue,
I agree with Greebo here:
*some of your gift idea's are needs......clothing & under things......
*the special hand made stuff is a really cool idea though : )
I would suggest maybe something he needs but would never get for himself, (example: he needs a new winter jacket......so get him his favorite sports team jacket).
Does he have any hobbies that he enjoys??? Get him that tool, fishing lure, light, whatever.
Sometimes guys like quality personal care items......like really good cologne : )
Just some idea's
Take no offence of my suggestions just trying to help.

You have to consider your DH's preferences. My DH would be "tickled" with new clothes, socks, underwear, anything. We usually don't exchange gifts because we spend our $$ on our dks.

My husband goes through a lot of clothes so he is always happy to receive them, he really doesn't care if gifts are needs or wants. Giving him clothes means he is spared a trip to the mall to buy them himself, and that's probably the best gift imaginable in his mind. He doesn't have time for hobbies, so the usual man stuff would not be appreciated.

Honestly, if I didn't give DH clothes on his BDay and Christmas, he'd probably never get new ones. He NEVER buys any clothes for himself.

I think you have a good mix of needed items and fun things too.
I always get dh clothes for gifts because he always needs them. He ruins clothes so quickly. But I do like you and do personal items and fun stuff too.
For his birthday I got him 2 new t-shirts. But I got him some accessories for his truck and some deer hunting DVDs as well. That way its practical and still fun too.
For Christmas I usually fill his stocking with purely fun stuff. I especially try to find little toys and stuff that he might have liked as a kid or something. But he always gets practical gifts too.
That just may be our style though. For our anniversary we bought ourselves a new bed. We desperately needed one so it was pretty practical but it was fun too. lol
