HBA for Christmas gifts?
Anyone ever given practical gifts in stockings for dks? I'm thinking this year of products like: deodorant, body spray, new toothbrushes, etc. Whattaya think?
Am I just getting too cheap?
I'm planning to add iTunes cards for DD and DS, and a Skype card for exchange student, so the whole stocking won't be filled with HBAs.
Christmas will be paid in cash, and the kids are getting some nice things:
Cell phone for DD14, digital camera for DS10.
But I thought the stockings could be filled with practical stuff rather than cheap candy and toys.Wife to Kevin: 20 years

Isn't that what stockings are for? I've never heard of NOT putting a new toothbrush in a stocking.

That is an excellent idea!!! It's far better than tons of candy and useless things. Good thinking!!!

Yep- gift cards and HBA are what we always put in stockings. I got a bunch of AXE stuff on clearance already for the guys stockings, and Bath and Body Works stuff for the girls.

Thats why I shop at CVS! My girls LOVE makeup in their stocking (and there will be a bit of trading going on). I also save my candy, gum, and tictac coupons and buy those to put in the stocking, too!
Bought my new oven 1/08 and loving it!

For the grownup stockings at Grandma's, we have always done pratical things.
We are starting that here this year. The guys just want cash (which means no shopping for me!! Woohoo!!). And, for the stockings, we are going to buy each other small practical gifts.Beak-1996, Toad-1998, and Q-1998

Our stocking usually consist of toothbrushes, deoderant, maybe colonge, makeup, candy, apples and oranges. Sometimes other small gifts as well. No big ticket items.

I do items like these for stockings also. Then I add in some special candies and lottery scratchoffs.
This year my son is getting his own fancy toe nail clippers. He is constantly getting hubby's and not putting them back. It may not be an oohh ahhh gift but will make life easier lol.

My two boys ages almost 10 and 8 look forward to recieving chap stick and lotion in there stockings every year. (They remind me of these two specific things before Christmas) and also the toothbrushes (from us and from Grandma) Although the shampoo and soap thing might be a good addition.

I usually give my SIL a bath basket with stuff in it like bars of soap, lotions, etc and last year, she got me this really great stuff from the Rocky Mountain Soap Company. I think I might do the same thing for her this year because there's a shop downtown in Calgary.
I give the kids each a toothbrush, floss and toothpaste in their stockings along with some cute little soaps that they'll use. I also give them bubble bath because they love that stuff.
My MIL gives me and my SIL a magazine every year and alot of the stuff in that magazine is either gossip or HBA.

Thanks, everyone! I never received HBAs for any occasion as a gift, but I love the practicality of it.
