Here is the link for the tshirt bags.
    http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/...c=taxonomylist

Someone mentioned them awhile ago. Your son could make them with old t-shirts, or you could buy cheap tshirts at AC moore or another craft store and do some iron on transfers also.
I am going to fill mine with freebies I got from WAGS etc,..more HB products for my sisters, but I was going to make a few for my mom and just wrap them up with a gift card to her grocery store.

    Hope this helps.

Could he melt wax and make candles with old jars, coffee or tea cups? Melt & make soap? Can he rip some music from (free) library cds and make some discs?

Wow! So many good project ideas out there. I love the sock-bank.

Here's an easy, neat, and very versatile project that could go to a female reipient at almost any age. I doubt it would cost more than $1 to make too. I found it on www.thriftyfun.com. It says to use wrapping papers, but I bet fabric scraps could make it even nicer and sturdier

I think pre teens and teenagers would especially love them. I love them, and I'm gonna try my hand at it. I think once you start rolling with this, you'll come up with a hundred more ideas to personalize them. I was thinking charms, studs, sequins, sparkles, it's endless..lol

For the teenagers on his list maybe he can make movie baskets with popcorn, a 1 liter of soda, a box of theater candy and a movie/or blockbuster card. Or maybe sundae baskets (I making one of these for my step Grandson) Sundae dishes, ice cream scoop, a jar of cherries, some sprinkles and a jar of homemade fudge sauce. I think even some grownups on his list might like these.

For the ladies a tea basket with some teas and a homemade scones in a jar with a pretty ribbon. Or maybe a bath basket with all kinds of homemade bath treats and a loafa or sponge, maybe a bath pillow.

Last year I made fudge from a can of icing and a bag of chocolate chips for last minute gifts. It came out perfect and was SO EASY.

These are easy to create on a budget and take little skill to feel very accomplished.
