    Default Tis' The Season

It's November 1st. Christmas is roughly seven weeks away (if my math is right, which in this case it may not be) and while I have started some shopping, I can't get over it. November 1st already?! It's not happening!

I have a really great feeling about this year, though. I feel that my time spent in Frugal Village will really have a profound impact on how I look at the holiday and what it really means to be in the spirit of the holidays. It's not always about how much you can buy for your children; it's about what you give them and how much thought you put into it. It's not always about 'Keeping With The Joneses'; it's about how much better your effort looks than theirs. It's not always about how nice that new car will look with a big bow on the top; it's about how nice the new tires are and how safe they'll keep your family.

I think alot of people, even in these rough economic times, will still go the same route they always have. I think they'll have a really hard time accepting that things are different and as such, they'll end up running up their credit cards to give everyone what they want and neglect what they need. These will be the same people who receive their credit card statements in January and feel like the world just fell on top of them. Things may never change for some, but for others, this is a new beginning. This is a time for many people to look at what the season truly brings to us. It's when people start looking at spending time together with nothing attached and stop looking at what the price tag will mean to their own happiness. We are able to go back to the roots of the holidays that really brought a smile upon the faces of everyone we meet and make us feel like we're at the top of the world. The streets will be filled with carolers. The kitchen table will be filled with food made out of love. There will be plenty of hugs, kisses and warm welcomes to fill our hearts and not our closets.

I hope that this year brings about the change that many people so desperately need.

Like you I have learned well, I don't, and won't, use the credit cards to dig my way deeper in to debt for Christmas. You don't know at the time when you are using them that come the first of the year you will be sitting there waiting for the bills to come in and wondering where all that money went!

Smiles are priceless, you can't put a price tag on togetherness, and love can't be bought or sold. Its way past time to enjoy the things that money can't buy, and those things are truly priceless. I really agree that its what fills our hearts that makes the Christmas Spirit what it is.

Here is a really helpful way to organize your Christmas "stress" and get ahead in the game. This really helps simplify all that you need to do so it doesn't come down to the last minute to where you feel like you are on Holiday overload! This really started on the 26 of October, but you can still get some great helpful ideas and ways to make things easier. Still lots of time to start even if you start now. It does help schedule things and make it so you have far less stress for the holidays. I hope it helps take some of the pressure of those that need the help, I know even without all the gifts and rough times this really helps break it up in to do-able pieces. Check the top of the big red box, it even gives new ideas to simplify the holiday, and save money.
