    Default Embroidered Gifts for Xmas?

    Hey everyone!

Things have been so hectic around here with trying to sell our house, purchasing another home and saving money, being frugal, packing and everything else.

This year Christmas is going to be really tight, I pretty much have my step-daughters done and I want to make embroidered towels for my mom and maybe an embroidered sweatshirt for my grandma.... do you think that would be good enough?

Not that my mom and grandma are high class (my mom "thinks" she is) but I want them to really realize that it's the thought that counts and that I took my time making the embroidery file (digitaizing) and putting it on the material needed.

You think embroidered towels and a sweatshirt are cheesy gifts?

I always thought it was the thought that counts, not how much it costs?

I love embroidered items. Each year I give several gifts that have been embroidered. Bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, pillow cases, shower curtains, umbrellas, ball caps, skull caps, cloth lined mugs(coffee mugs, sippy cups and tumblers) are all things I have given and received. I see nothing wrong with them giving them as gifts, especially since you have your own machine. If I had my own machine, folks had better watch out. I would be embroidering everything I could pin down. I currently am paying $8 per embroidery, the money I could save and the fun I could have.

    Go for it!!!

While it *is* the thought that counts, the thought is lost if the recipients are thoughtless. My mother would hate anything homemade I made for her, because she sees that as "country" in a bad way. She would hate it doubly if I gave it to her as a birthday or Christmas gift. So I guess it depends on how commercial your family is.

I intend to ask for homemade gifts this year, but I doubt my mother will comply. Her idea of a gift is currency in a card, handed to you at Christmas, and typically not even signed or sealed (too much trouble, I guess).

I love embroidered gifts, I know how much time and thought go into them, I dont see how anyone else would think differently.

With money being so tight, it's what they will get, if they dont like it, I guess they can do what they want with them.

I agree with madhen...it depends on who you are giving the items to. My mom appreciates some I make, and other not so much. My dad loves anything he gets! I give accordingly. However, if this is what you have decided then that is their gift. Just as with anything you could buy them, they will either be happy or they won't. Only you can know.

I don't have a machine so I paid to have my gifts embroidered.
For the Girls it is micro fleece robes with crown and HRH (her royal highness)
For the men micro-blankets with their names!
