My mom had been giving my family & my sisters' family shampoo, conditioner, deoderant, razors, shaving cream, all kinds of toiletries for stocking stuffers (not TP, tho! LOL) for years. Let me tell you, it *really* helps! We look forward to it, actually. Then mom gets all of us a gift card from Walmart or Kmart or some such store also. Been this way for years now.

I used to have a good friend who had parents who lived out of state. When they came to visit her one year, they asked her if I would drive them to the local Sam's Club. I thought it was a bit odd, since they probably had Sam's Clubs where they lived, and I was wondering how they were going to pack it all in the plane, but I did so. Well, they ended up buying a couple of hundred dollars worth of stuff (tp, paper towels, etc) and a VCR (yes, it was that long ago) and GIVING it to me!! (They are both dentists, so I also got a box of toothbrushes! ) Their daughter is a wonderful person, but a little quirky, and I think I was one of the only normal friends that she had. I also watched out for her, in my own way. Never thought much of it, as that is sort of what friends do, but apparently, her parents REALLY appreciated it!

I simply asked for large-sized packages of toilet paper, laundry detergent, fabric softener and other household items that I will appreciate every time I use them (and think fondly of the one who gifted them to me).

Since I pass on coupons to Mom/Family for items such as the ones for which I ask, they save money too! And I do not want the ones I love to experience any financial hardship by buying me gifts...

    This is a great idea!
