Default Help me with Christmas present ideas for my 6th grade son

I'm stuck on ideas this year for my son who will be 12 in Jan. (Uug I'll have to buy presents then too)

I are getting him a size 5 soccer ball ( hopefully a cool looking one)

We are thinking about an mp3 player as he doesn't have one yet. Hubby researched it and thinks an ipod. He thinks that is to expensive and wonders what a 12 year old would really use an mp3 player for.

Other idea, is a converter box for son's rabbit ear tv. Hubby is still thinking about this on: First we originally were not going to have tv's in the children's room but son won it it first grade in the raffle that he did not buy a ticket to (school gave each child one ticket) so we allowed it. He does have a dvd player for it ( grandma bought that) so Hubby is thinking if anytime was a good time to get rid of the tv programing ( only gets pbs and fox) it would be at the conversion.
Also would it work before the Feb deadline? Would it be fun to get one and not be able to do anything with it?

What are your thoughts on the ideas?

    Any other ideas?

(His sister is getting a Junie B Jones Journal, a hula hoop, and a homemade coupon for a DS game, after she has saved up enough to buy a DS and her first game.)

NO ideas here, I'm still trying to figure out what to get my 13 yr old nephew that he will actually like and cost me less then 15 dollars. Yea, I think maybe I should just give him the cash.

A cheap digital camera. We got my sson one last year (I think $35) and he totoes it everywhere. He's 12 and a half.

Computer games are big too. Zoo tycoon is a good one that can usually be picked up pretty cheap and/or used. YOu build your own zoo and have to run it right to get more animals and so forth.

Anything AirHogs is a big hot for my son as well.

Any remote controls that that you have had good luck with. I thought they didn't last long and that the batteries were expensive. Is that a myth?

Sounds like you already have some very good ideas. About the mp3, does he listen to music and if so does he have Cd's to download the music to the mp3?

I have a 12 year old, 6th grade ds....he is hard to buy for. They just changed the shape of the ipod again so I got him the square one on clearance for $99 (was $149), and it came with a $15 itunes gift card. He has an mp3 player he bought himself a couple of years ago and he has worn it out..he uses it on the school bus, in the car, at home so we don't yell about how loud his music is...so, for him, the ipod is a great gift. other things he will get are some books, a football, a couple of movies they had for cheap today at walmart, and a football. He also likes the air hogs things, still has one he got last year. Good luck!

How about camping gear, fishing stuff, a telescope, sports equipment that he likes, a bike, a video game, Kinex or building sets.
    Just a few ideas.

AirHogs is a brand/toy type. They are generally things that go in the air such as rockets or remote control planes. It looks like they have some car stuff too mostly it's "in the air" related. The prices vary a great deal. Target, Wal-mart, ect all carry some of thier stuff.

Oh just thought of the other computer game my boys like. The Sims City one. Some of the Sims games have a lot of content I won't let my kids near. Thankfully they haven't shown much intrest in them anyway. The exception is the one where it's all about building the buildings.
