What did you buy your kids for Christmas?
This year is quite different from the previous years now that we have a mortgage payment..My children are spoiled there is no doubt about it..I tend to go overboard at Christmas on buying whatever they want..(note..I don't buy alot for them during the year so this is where I makeup for it..)I have already told my fella's that it will be slim picking's this year..I know they are super excited about our new home (even though were not living there yet)..one of my co-workers said dh & I should put a big bow around the house and tell them Merry Christmas..I just can't do that..So I decided that our Christmas would totally revolve our Wii system..I bought the Wii fit bundle pack..good workout for me and my oldest son who is about 30lbs overweight..my middle fella loves to skateboard so I bought him a skateboarding game with the balance board..my little fella is into hunting (although I refuse to let him have a gun..he does go hunting with my Brother and my 10yr old nephew which makes me very nervous but dh saids I have to let him learn and let loose of the apron strings a little bit.. he will be 12yrs old in Feb and I'm very very overprotective when it comes to all my boy's) anyway I bought him a hunting game along with the wii guns..I have to admit I absolutely love to target practice with our bb-gun so I'll have alot of fun playing with him...The big purchase was a I-pod touch 16gb for my oldest son who will be 16 Dec 29th..I did use the $100 in gift certifcates that I had saved up.. I haven't decided if I'm going to give it to him for Christmas or his birthday yet? I also bought a few dvd's and a track phone for my middle son..I have 3 electric toothbrushes that I got for free at CVS..and that's it so far..So what did you buy for your children??

I tell my kids that they can ask Santa for 5 things each. So far what they are asking for is:
Son (who will be 7 in March) wants:
Spiderman costume (I may attempt to make this since I really don't want to buy it)
Lego City Police Station
Playmobile stuff
The other items change from day to day.
My daughter doesn't really have a list in mind. She is still too small (3). We will probably buy her some Playmobile stuff.
My husband is taking the day off on Friday and we are going shopping then.

Oldest DD:
A DS game
In the stocking:
a book
a necklace
lip gloss
hair glitter
wool socks
braces friendly sweet treat
1 other small thing
Middle DD:
a drum practice pad
Stocking:
a groovy girls doll
necklace
lip gloss
hair glitter
wool socks
allergy friendly sweet treat
purse hair brush
Youngest DD:
Children's melodium (like an accordion; a real instrument)
stocking:
(something)
necklace
lip gloss
hair glitter
allergy friendly sweet treat
purse hair brush
wool socks
I am making the necklaces with supplies on hand, they cost about $3 each. Wool socks I'm still looking for a bargain on, and the book and doll I received as a door prize for Girl Scout training meetings. Other stocking items came from the dollar rack. Total per child, <$50.Last edited by UUMomof3; 12-01-2008 at 02:49 PM. Reason: clarity; obviously the tree items didn't come from the $1 rack!

I have done some shopping, but not all. Here is what the boys are getting:
They are each getting a PSP plus one game from Santa (and great-grandma is paying for half of it, becuase she really wanted them to have one).
From us, they are each getting two presents. My oldest is getting a make your own volcano kit and something else I haven't found yet. My youngest is getting a eye clops (gotta love amazon.com...got it on black friday online for $15) and a telescope which was on his list last Christmas, but he didn't get it and still wants one!
As for stocking stuffers, it's usually new toothbrushes, body wash/shampoo, new gloves, and a few other little practical things.
And we all get new PJ's on Christmas eve, so we are fancy and color coordinated for Christmas morning pictures!

To solve that problem he is getting about thirty AA & AAA batteries) and possibly new pillows.
We always have an all cash Christmas. The closest thing to a credit card we own is our bank debit card. Our Christmas gift budget this year is $2100 for everyone(kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) and we use a portion of DH's annual bonus to make all of our Christmas purchases with.
From other relatives they will be getting:

For our DS12 we feel he has enough mind and time wasting, expensive technological gadgets already so we talked about it and came to agreement to get him just a couple of games and a movie and the rest would be for expanding his mind and learning.
So he's getting -
2 Wii games
1 dvd
5 books (#'s 1-5 of a young readers books series that he's been wanting and asked for)
3 new sketch pads (he's loves to draw and needs new ones)
2 backyard science and experiments books (he loves science)
Microscope kit
Stocking-
Candy filled cane (m & m's it's a tradition)
A new package of drawing pencils and sharpener
A new box of map colors for his drawing
A new ball cap
We've also decided on redoing his room in the coming weeks and will probably have that done right at Christmas time. We are just giving it new paint (his choice of colors), new curtains (which I will make) and new bedding to match to reflect a young man his age and not so much a little kids room anymore. Even though it's not really part of his Christmas he seems more excited about that getting done than anything.
