May start a heated Christmas debate here...
but what do you prefer; white lights or colored lights?

My nieghbor and I have been arguing this for years! I prefer white lights..not a single multi-color light in or on my house and he mixes white and colored (which I think is against the laws of Christmas...you should have to pick)!
So what do you prefer???

We have a house around the corner that uses just blue lights.
There is one across town that uses just green.
Several use just white.
I myself, don't really care, as long as they are lit up and show that people took time to do it. KWIM?

It depends on what I am hanging them on...
I have a white tree, so white lights would look strange, so colored (and blinking) lights.
I also have a huge plant (fake) wired with white lights. It's not just there for Christmas though...
My mom and her fiance have only agreed on one thing... they have to blink... which makes it a really interesting tree when half is white, the other half colored and both sets are blinking out of sync
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Multi-colored! On the tree and on the house
Also a couple of strings of bubble lights and this year we have a string of leg lamps (from Christmas Story) as well. Our tree is definitely a reflection of us ~ no plain old white lights for us

I prefer the colored lights. The white ones just seem depressing to me. BUT, last year I scored a new pre-lit tree on a wicked good clearance sale at Target and it's white lights....it's growing on me. However, outside we have colored lights on the house and white lights on the BIG wreath.
I do NOT like flashing lights though. Too much like a "vacancy" sign lol. The lights on my tree & garland on the mantle "twinkle". I do like that a lot! The lights on the house do not flash or twinkle.Last edited by YankeeMom; 12-03-2008 at 08:15 AM.

Both, how's that for being diplomatic? The colored ones for the child in me & the white for the adult.

The Moose in my avatar votes for both also.

I prefer the colored lights.
Growing up there was a church that just had blue lights on it. It was quite depressing everytime we passed by it.Sue

I don't hang lights on the oustide of the house. Just my personal preference.
BUT, we do two trees. One is a "formal" tree with white lights and all red, silver and gold ornaments. The other is a "fun" tree with colored lights and whimsical ornaments.

Colored all the way baby!!! On the house and on the tree. My tree lights are colored and flashing WITH different kinds of ornaments.
Growing up, my mom always decorated our house in red lights on the outside and inside we had four christmas trees with clear lights.Mom to Sara Louise (11) Wife to wonderful hubby Chad

I prefer white. But we do put colored ones up outside. The hubby and kids like the colored ones so we compromise. I like an all white Christmas.

We don't put lights up outside the house, but inside our trees only have white lights on them. I'm not a huge fan of the colored lights.

We don't decorate the outside of our house, but the inside is pretty festive. We like both colored, and white lights. On our tree this year is multi color and we have strands of white with garland on our stairway, and a few other white ones over doorways.

White lights only here!!! And I cannot stand to have 'flashing' or 'blinking' lights! My DH could care less about how I choose to decorate the trees or the house during the holiday season as long as his 'honey do' list doesn't take all of his day off! LOL
