Whats your favorite
Christmas song? And if you don't mind sharing, why is it your favorite?
I have to say even if its a sad one mine has to be Blue Christmas. Since the loss of my Mother and Dad the holidays just don't seem to be the same. Time marches on, and the kids laughter fills the air and helps bring back warm memories of home.

O Holy Night
I love Christmas music and I have many favourites.
But this one is right up there at the top. I love the words so much. I also have wonderful memories of it being sung by a gentleman every year at our Christmas eve service - it gave me chills every single year he sang it!
Christmas is about Christs' birth, and this song tells the story beautifully.
O Holy Night
O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
'Til He appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! O, hear the angels' voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born;
O night divine, O night, O night Divine.
Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming,
Here come the wise men from Orient land.
The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friend.
He knows our need, to our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before Him lowly bend!
Behold your King, Behold your King.
Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother;
And in His name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! O praise His Name forever,
His power and glory evermore proclaim.
His power and glory evermore proclaim.Last edited by IntlMom; 12-04-2008 at 07:11 PM.

I'll Be Home For Christmas by Bing Crosby
I heard it last year and for the first time ever I really listened to it....since Zac was in Iraq, it struck extremely close to home.
I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
I'll be home for Christmas
You can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents on the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the lovelight gleams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreamsMcD

Nichole, sorry, but right now, I hate that song.
But my favorite has got to be What child is this?
What Child is this who, laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross be borne for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
Raise, raise a song on high,
The virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Silent Night. I sing it all year round to my DD. When we hear it she comes over and sits in my lap and we snuggle.

" I saw mommy kissing santa clause"
I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus
Underneath the mistletoe last night.
She didn't see me creep
Down the stairs to have a peep;
She thought that I was tucked up in my bedroom fast asleep.
Then, I saw Mommy tickle Santa Claus
Underneath his beard so snowy white;
Oh, what a laugh it would have been
If Daddy had only seen
Mommy kissing Santa Claus last night.

Mele Kalikimaka - Bing Crosby
Makes me wish I was under a palm tree with christmas lights sipping a tropical beverage.
Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say on a bright Hawian Christmas Day
That's the island greeting that we send to you from the land where palm trees sway
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright
The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii's way to say Merry Christmas to you
THe Andrew Sisters:
Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say on a bright Hawian Christmas day
That's the island greeting that we send to you from the land where palm trees sway
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright
The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii's way to say Merry Christmas to you
The Andrew Sister's and Bing Crosby:
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright
The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night

I'm agnostic, but I do still enjoy biblical stories and can appreciate them. My favorite Christmas song, it always moves me to tears, is Amy Grant's "Breath of Heaven." It's beautiful and I can't make it through singing it without bawling. It's about Mary and her trepidation about being placed in such an important position, praying for help and peace and courage. I think it makes me cry because I want so badly to be a mother, and this is just something, I think, that most mothers feel as we prepare for children and parenthood, even if we aren't birthing the first or second coming, heh. The whole, am I worthy of this? sort of thing.
I have traveled many moonless nights
Cold and weary with a babe inside
And I wonder what I've done
Holy Father, You have come
And chosen me now to carry Your Son
I am waiting in a silent prayer
I am frightened by the load I bear
In a world as cold as stone
Must I walk this path alone?
Be with me now, be with me now
Breath of Heaven, hold me together
Be forever near me, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness
Pour over me Your holiness for You are holy
Breath of Heaven
Do you wonder as you watch my face
If a wiser one should have had my place?
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of Your plan
Help me be strong, help me be, help me
Breath of Heaven, hold me together
Be forever near me, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness
Pour over me Your holiness for You are holy
Breath of Heaven, hold me together
Be forever near me, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness
Pour over me Your holiness for You are holy
Breath of Heaven, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven
DH would like me to add his favorite is "Punk Rock Christmas" by the Sex Pistols

Moor--last Christmas I hated it too. This year it serves as a reminder for me to be thankful he's home.

Someone mentioned "Mary Did You Know?" I love that one too....last night as I was laying in bed I thought of another one I love (I must need a life, as I was thinking about the village as I was going to sleep! HAHA)
I also love "What Child Is This?"
I love Christmas music that revolve around Christ's birth.
on a more "fun"note, I like Mele Kalikimaka by Bing Crosby too.
I had never heard it before I saw Christmas Vacation - the swimming pool scene.Last edited by IntlMom; 12-05-2008 at 09:47 AM.

Mine is "Welcome Christmas" from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".
I also like the "olde" carols from around the world.
And "Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt. It's a great sendup on commercialism.
Chekhov said, "Any idiot can face a crisis; it is this day-to-day living that wears you out."
