Okay, I had to visit four different stores, but I finally got all the ingredients!
Wal-Mart had the fragrance oils, and they were cheap, so I bought four: vanilla pound cake, lavender, rose dreams, and warm sugar cookie. I stopped off at a compounding pharmacy, hoping to get epsom salts and glycerin. No luck. So off to Raley's, which had both. Then I ran out to K-Mart in search of cheap containers. I ended up buying four very cute holiday ceramic coffee mugs for $2.00 each (love those sales), and I am going to put the salts in a bag tied with a ribbon inside the mugs. Now if I can just find my camera battery charger....

Made some rose-scented salts. Ooh, they smell nice! Makes me want to hog it all for myself and draw myself long luxurious baths every night! Now I just need a bunch of tea lights and rose petals to complete the effect.
I am going to make one of each "flavour" and give them some time to blend before packaging them up. I think my sister will love them. My mother has allergies, but maybe I'll do a bath salt - lite version for her with 1/2 the fragrance.
Off to go try the other fragrances!
P.S. VERY EASY to make. Of course, in a fit of stupidity, I forgot that I have a HUGE container of epsom salts in my tack room. If you have a feed store near you, I suggest you buy your epsom salts in bulk there, rather than at the pricier grocery store rate.Last edited by madhen; 12-16-2008 at 10:20 PM.

THanks for that madHen!!
I was gonna say, you can get the epsom salt and the glycerine at walmart in the same section as the alcohol, peroxide and witch hazel!!
I would have said it sooner, but I was at work LOL
And also, my Mom has allergies badly too, so I leave out the scent and color and just make hers with the epsom and glycerine!Last edited by nvmommyx6; 12-17-2008 at 01:14 AM.

Hmmm...I have a recipe that doesn't use glycerin...just epsom salt, food colouring and essential oil. I used a lot more oil...20 drops for 2 c. of sea salt (instead of epsom salts), and a few drops liquid food colouring. Smells great, if a bit strong. Looks great. I guess we'll see how it turns out in the tub! If it doesn't work, thanks for the alternative recipe!

Sea salt is the more "gourmet" version.

The glycerin is more to add some moisture, as it is an ingredient in most beauty products that have added emollients.
Mine came out very strong as well, but when you add it to the bath water, you hardly notice it.DH aka Mad Hen
