Angry I don't want Christmas anymore! (Rant)

So this year I start Christmas shopping early. And by early, I mean two months in advance. I sit down on the weekend of November 30th to order gifts to arrive before December 19th (which is Friday). I get the gift that I ordered from Canadian Tire, but then I still haven't received my gift for DH from Tycromedia. It was a Two-to-Go Coffee Maker that I spent $50 on (including shipping) and it was to be delivered between 6 and 10 business days from the time I ordered it. That was November 30th...

Fast forward to December 7th. I finally get an email saying the order was shipped. Um, what? I ordered this thing eight days prior, and now it's being shipped?! I'm furious, but figure that 6 to 10 days from then it would be here. Nothing so far...

Then I send an email to the place I ordered from, wondering when it will be here. Now they're saying it's going to be here Monday?? WHAT?! We're not even going to be here on Monday!!! I'm not about to let this thing sit on my steps for an entire week, waiting to be stolen by someone else, that I paid money for! I am just outright furious to the point of crying right now. I don't even want to go to my inlaws for Christmas at all now. It's pointless. I called DH to let him know that his gift will be late, and that I don't want them to miss out on FIL's birthday on Sunday so he might as well just go without me. I don't even want this stupid holiday anymore!

So I sent an email to the company that went a little something like this:

I won't even be in town on Monday and that was a gift for my husband for Christmas. Wow. I ordered this more than three weeks ago, and now you're telling me it won't even be here until the 22nd? That's almost four weeks since I put in the order, and was told it was going to take 6-10 business days.

I'd like a hold to be put on the item when it reaches Calgary. If you can't, then I want a refund and an apology for you guys ruining Christmas for me and my family.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. Most companies usually tell you to expect longer delivery time around the holiday--not that it's going to help you. Hope everything works out.

I hate when companies say one thing and mean another, it's a total shame, especially with Christmas right around the corner.

I would actually call them and tell them exactly what you wrote. As for it sitting there for a week, can't you contact your local post office and have you mail held there until you get back. Same with FedEx, DHL and UPS if you have a tracking number.

Yeah, I had Canada Post hold my mail for me and paid $14.70 to do it. The trouble is that they don't hold any parcels that came via special mail. I'm not only concerned about that box, but the fact my mom sent a box that they may end up sending back to her that had Christmas presents in it.

MomToTwoBoys - doesn't Canada Post hold parcels that don't technically 'fit' in your mailbox? As in making you go to the nearest postal location to pick it up within 7 business days where you have to show 2 pieces of ID??? If your mail is being held - especially since you're paying them to do so, why wouldn't they hold your parcel?? Its considered 'mail' no? Try calling Canada Post to find out.

Sorry this is happening to you.

((HUGS!)) What a disappointment...definately not a company worth buying from again! I'm sorry this is happening to you!

Do you have a trusted neighbour that could pick up the parcel from your doorstep so that it doesn't get stolen?

You've done your part in planning ahead & somebody dropped the ball. I understand your dissapointment but I wouldn't let it ruin my Christmas. Enjoy your loved ones and everything will iron out. Sorry this happened but you can choose to say humph and move on or just let it bring you down. Talk to who you can, ask a neighbor friend to keep an eye out and I hope it all turns out better than you think.
    Good luck!

Please don't let this ruin your holiday. I know your very disappointed & upset. I'd try to get the company to do a refund (package insured? if stolen or lost) or replacement after the holidays. Maybe you could wrap up a picture or note about the item for your DH. Mine would be more disappointed if I let this ruin my Christmas than not receiving the present on time. Please let us know what happens.
