Question When will the Christmas tree & decorations come down?

Tomorrow night everything will be put away. It's been up since the middle of Nov. and I want my living room back.

Next weekend, our tradition is to leave it until after New Year's. We only put the tree up a couple of weeks ago.

I just got mine up day before yesterday, so I'm not tired of it yet. Probably the weekend after New Year's Day.

Ours will come down tomorrow. I want to get some organizing done in the house and some freezer meals set aside before my next semester of school starts.

We have a family tradition that we call Little Christmas. It is something from my Dad's side. We give another little gift to each other on Jan. 6th (the Epiphany). The extra gift symbolizes the gifts from the 3 wise men. However, we also have a few other traditions that are a bit different and non-religious that go with it. So....it has been our family tradition to also keep the tree up until then as well.

Therefore, mine will be down and out to the curb by Jan 7th.

Sigh ---- I find the tree calming and peaceful. I will regretfully take it down somewhere at the end of January. The lights on the house will come down right after New Years but the tree and red flowery stuff will stay for awhile.

..... One year I thought about leaving it up all year and seasonally changing decorations. DH just gave me one of those "are you serious looks" and being recently married I took it down. The next year when I thought about it I decided if it was up all the time I might not really get the same forfillment out if it. So it comes down.

We usually put ours up Thanksgiving weekend and take it down New Year's weekend. However, this year we broke all our rules and traditions so I may take it down tomorrow.

Next year we are doing things differently,

I usually take down the tree and lights down on the 2nd of Jan. The nativities all stay up (4 of them) until Epiphany when we have another mini-celebration (12th day of Christmas). I don't put things up more than a week before Christmas though, except the advent calendar.

When we have a tree (we don't this year), we do the same, except we don't celebrate Epiphany - we just keep the tree up because the Twelve Day's of Christmas *start* on Christmas Day. Thank you for pointing that out.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
