Talking What did you get for Christmas that will help you live more frugally?

Thought I would ask what everyone got for Christmas that will either help them save money (because they don't have to buy it themselves ....such as food) or help them live more frugally.

I got..... a stocking from my Mom filled with shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, shower gel, deodorant etc and I new coffee table (we so needed one)

From my FIL - $100 each for me, DH and DS

From my niece and family .... a set of marinades and sauces.

From my BIL.... jerky, sausages and make your own jerky mix.

Won't count my DH's gift (digital camera) because it came out of our money.

Did anyone else get anything that will save them money?

I got a new set of cookware from my folks -- I'm hoping it will help me cook at home more often, since sometimes just thinking of using my scratched and beat up old pans makes me not want to cook.

Not really. My mother gave me $100, which is nice, but nothing that will help me in the long term.

My sister did offer, before she left, to give me her stash of beading supplies. She has probably $1,000 or more in inventory in storage, and I have offered to buy it from her before. When she brought up last night, I again offered to pay her for it, and she said she would just give it to me. So if she follows through, I guess I'll consider that a belated Christmas present, and I can use all her stuff to make jewelry which I will hopefully either sell or use for presents next year!

I've never eaten deer or moose meat! Is it good?! You must live up north somewhere because we don't have moose running around in southwestern Ontario! BTW, who gave it to you?

I got a really nice long sleeved robe ...plushy so it is really warm. That will save on heat when it is cold. I just wrapped up in it at the puter.

I got pajamas to help me stay warm and of course money as well, at least I can buy some things that I wouldn't have bought otherwise.

From my MIL, I got the big gridlle that I wanted. Maybe won't make life more frugal, but it'll certainly help out when I'm cooking at home!

We mainly got cash from people. Dh and I are hard to buy for becuase we are frugal and just don't have alot of wants in life. So when people ask us what we would like, we really can honestly say there isn't anything on my list (other than the griddle this year).

DH's grandma made us promise that we would take her check and go out to eat with it. We said yes...but it's actually going right into our savings account! Shhhhh...don't tell her!

As a family we received gift cards to the movies and to the movie rental place.

This is a standard ( nearly yearly) present from my mom.

Since this is the only way we go to the movies or rent movies that is frugal for us. Frugal family fun.

I'm hoping for Hubby's birthday next month she buys gift cards to the pizza delivery place. LOL

We also received cash from family members. It went into the pot and will be used as needed. It probably has already been used to pay off bills like doctor bills and such.

When we moved to a front loader our water use went down 50%. The water company came out to check their meter they thought it had broken.

    Enjoy
