Favorite Christmas Ornament?
As I was taking down my Christmas tree yesterday, I started thinking about all the memories associated with each ornament. We have the tradition of buying a new Hallmark ornament for us every Christmas.
We have the first Christmas Together and Parents to Be ornaments that symbolize our milestones as a couple.
We have a Clear Globe with military emblems in it to represent the Christmas where the military took DH a world away. We have a superwoman costume that represents the year that Zac was gone while I did it all: raised Wesley, maintained the house, work, school, etc.
I have a Where the Wilds Things Are ornament which is a representation of the hours Wesley and I spend reading that book to each other in bed.
Wesley has a Little Einsteins ornament (plays the theme song) which is his 'favowite thing in da whole wold'.
My absolute favorite ornament is our oversized glass bulb that has the White House hand-painted on it. DH and I bought it while we were on the DC trip he won for being named Soldier of the Year for the state. I was pregnant at the time and we just had a wonderful trip.
It's like a mini-life story on our Christmas tree now that I think about it.
Do you have a favorite? Why? Do your kids have favorites?McD

I also buy a new dated ornament each year. I have a few that aren't dated that I really like. One of my favorites is this big white Moose that I got when Dh and I were living together in college. I think I bought it at the Nature company or something.
Like yours, my tree is an eclectic mix of ornaments all with some kind of meaning. I swore I wouldn't ever buy a character ornament, but my son LOVES spiderman so, this year, his ornament was Spiderman. My daughter got Tinkerbell. (I used to buy the ones that have "child's first christmas, second christmas, etc and Ds is too old now)

I too have several.. I have the ones that my MIL and SIL bought for me our second Christmas together, (I was upset all we had were the ones from DH first marraige), all the ones my parents had that I got since they past away, anything the kids made, ones my MIL made me, and several others... But....
My absolute two favorites are ones from my family... My sister made me an ornament from black and white copies of family and decopouged them onto a clear glass ornament-they consist of our parents, family, the kids, my grandparents, and so forth... I intend to keep it out year round. The other one came from my aunt and uncle this year. Their only child-their son was killed this last April.. He was only 34, he was like my other brother, just as close, we loved him dearly. They got an ornament for each of us kids, and many of his friends, put his photo in it and was engraved with the words simply "Remembering Mark"... Boy did that draw a lot of tears, but I will alway and forever cherish that one.
I have too many to count, I love ornaments period... One other would be our Christmas Angel DH and I bought our first Christmas as husband and wife.... That tree topper will never change.....Bonnie mom to

My Christmas tree also is the tale of my life. My most favorite ornament is a little wooden manger. I purchased it when I divorced my first husband and my son and I bought it together that year. Every year since (11 yrs) it is the first ornament that is put on the tree and my son has the honor of doing it. He specifically finds that ornament and nothing else can be put on the tree until that one is hanging up. It is a rememberance of a time when I had to be strong for my son and each year I remember that 'we made it'.

Like everyone my tree is also the chapters of my DH and I's life together. There are the ornaments I made for my DH the first year he lived on his own ( I made them out of flour dough). We have the ornaments of hand prints and footprints of are DD's from preschool. Then there are the ornaments that were made with such love by the girl's when they started school. My birthday falls in November and I have several ornaments from DH. We also put are DD's ornaments on the tree. Each year at Thanksgiving DD's are given an ornament. I try to pick out ornaments that have something to do with that year. They have sports ornaments, character ornaments and ornaments that have been purchased while on vacation. Of course the tree would not be complete without the Harley ornaments my husband has received over the years. The tree is topped every year by a very lopsided Angel that I made the Christmas I was on maternity leave waiting for are 1st daughter to be born. Each year we are reminded of all the blessings we have received throughout the years!
