I would always buy a lottery ticket for my Dh stocking. Only $1 but since we never play so it is a small treat.

Everyone always gets a new ornament in their stocking - usually handmade. This year I am going to be putting in some vitamins - as a reminder to take care of themselves!!

Some years I would receive one of my larger gifts "in" my stocking. We usually opened gifts on Christmas eve morning, but Santa filled our stockings so we had to wait until Christmas. Most times it was the gift I was really looking forward to/had asked for the most. I would be thinking I didn't get it and then it would show up from Santa!

You could get a variety box of hundred calorie packs and split them up. Everyone could get a variaton. Also, stuff like pens, pencils and erasers for kids in school or college. Or crayons of little ones. Yesterday Big Lots had coloring books for 50 cents.

I love all natural stuff, and my family members pretty much know if it's in their stocking it's a chemical-free doo-jobby. We shop all year long for stuff too! Saves tons of money and time. I have an online store at The Giving Essence where you can get hand crafted natural lip balm tins etc. Inexpensive and they'll definitely last till next year. Oh, we like to save up weird little free samples too and give them "inappropriately". Like anti-gas pills, cheesy beauty samples from the mail, diaper coupons etc. Anything for a laugh!

I made FDH confused with his stocking last year. I bought a 5 pack of socks and split them up, rolled then up and wrapped them up indiviually (in pairs) and he poked them for a week under the tree wondering what they could be. Ill do something similar this year but hide something within the socks.
I could use ideas from this thread as i get stuck thinking what to put in the stockings.Kelly & DH Alex ♥

I am putting rubber band balls in the heels of all 8 stockings that I fill every year - have always wanted to make these and finally am!! I'm on a mission to see how much (if not all) that I can make or get for free for stockings this year!!

I need some ideas on what to get a 14 month old boy in his stocking. Last year he got pacifiers and a few rattle type toys in his stocking. This year will be a little harder, but here's some ideas that I'm tossing around, and some things I've already picked up:
Puppy dog bath mitt $1
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse coloring book $1
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse color/shape flashcards $1
My Friends Tigger and Pooh story book $1
Dr. Seuss DVD $5
Some kiddie CDs...free from FreeCycle
I'll be adding crayons during the back to school sales, a 'big boy' character toothbrush, and of course, socks...socks are a stocking tradition in our house, lol.
If anyone can think of anything else that would be good for a little boy's stocking, please let me know!

Love the idea of socks in the stockings - of course and why didn't I think of that!! LOL!!!
The rubber band balls are coming along just fine. I did buy one at the office store because I needed the colored rubber bands to finish mine. The ones I am making are about 2/3 the size of the store bought ones - still look cute!!
For a little boy that age I would also find some play tools. Love your other ideas!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.
