Tool Gifts for your guy - advice
Ladies, as a service to some of you, I'd like to offer some tips on gift giving tools this year. (hoping my wife heeds this advice).
Please don't buy some of the "gadget tools" you see at the check out or advertised on TV. (below is an example) Most of them are junk and usually wind up in the back of the tool box rarely, if ever used.
Buy quality tools. Personal preferences for me--
Hand tools from Sears, The Craftsman series. Kobalt and Snap-on also make good hand tools.
Power tools - I buy Dewalt brand but Makita is also a good brand.
Harbor Freight typically sells "limited use" tools. In other words the tools they sell are cheaply made and not for heavy use. Most guys will call them "one time use" tools.
Just a couple of thoughts and if you need help with a purchase I would be more than happy to give you my opinion.

Yes, but you started with "ladies" and titled it "for your guy." Tsk tsk. Very insensitive. Back to EEO training for you.
I have a (male) friend who calls everyone "dude." Male or female, you are "dude" to him. He says it keeps him out of trouble.DH aka Mad Hen

Too funny, My DS17 and I just had this discussion yesterday. He was complaining that Black and Decker were "girl tools" and that craftsman tools were "guy" tools.
I explained to him that he recieved Black and Decker when he was DS14 and DS15 because they are beginner tools for people learning to use tools and those who abuse tools because they are young. i explained that thats why he got a mix of harbor freight for tools he had not yet mastered like the router and craftsman saws. He looked like he sucked a pickle when I was done. I am sure he never considered he was being schooled and mentored in "tool" by mom. Gotta by Foxy when raising males sometimes. Luckily,Some day my DS will inherit all my Grandfathers vintage tools.
Poor DH always run around the house griping his DS took his tools w/o asking. Had to ask "what tools" the other day. I have never bought him tools and he doesn't buy tools for himself (except electronic). I think he's talking about the tools of his brothers he inherited 30 years ago. I asked if he would like tools for xmas. Now he looked like he sucked on a pickle. We all know he wants Geek toys.

I am going to buy hubby the service manual for his 2009 Harley Davidson Fat Boy for Christmas. In the past I have generally purchased tools from Sears for him. I always pay attention when he looks at tools or talks about what he wants/needs.
