Christmas Ideas
I'm trying to look for craft ideas for christmas this year. I am not good at sewing, but rather, more crafty items. Dried flowers, baking, making deserts, home made items.
Any suggestions on what I can make. I love to go to thrift stores to look up ideas. I was thinking more on the lines of getting those decorative stones and making coasters, I purchased a great set down in Cape May, and I would love to incoroporate that into gifts this year.
Any help or suggestsion I would just eat up! Thanks!

I agree, you can search this forum and find lots of ideas.
If you want to make coasters you can make them out of oil cloth and layers of felt too.Carrie, ravenmaniac - I love my Ravens!!!!

Bath salts and bath fizzies are super easy and fun. As is a sugar scrub......or some sort of bath scrub.
Can even do the melt and pour soap.....make balls out of some that you have colored green (with food coloring from dollar store)......put them inside a GREEN hand towel folded lenthwise, leaving a small opening for soaps, tie ribbons around each end of the towel and...wa....la....you have peas in a pod!

great ideas ladies!!
Jestagrrrl - would you please post a picture of the coaster set that you got in Cape May.
I love this idea!! Silly question - would the green from the food coloring come off on skin? Mahalo - I really want to do this. Now I have to find melt and pour soap - really cheap that is!! Mahalo FF!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I am giving his and her baskets or just his or her baskets
im baking cookies and fudge
getting some dollar tree mugs
buying coffees, creamers, and i have TONS of cocoa with coupons
im getting lots of samples in the mail
and im buying beauty products only with really good coupons and putting it all together...i just need baskets and to keep adding to my pile of gifts
i have so many cocoa packets im thinking of emptying them in glass jars im saving and adding ribbon, lace to the jar and putting them in some of the baskets...its either coffee for one couple and cocoa for another
we have a store here called ollies and they have adult board games for 2.99 so if i get that way i will get those for the baskets too

MM......for the soap..use your coupon at a JA. Do you have those? You are only going to use a drop or two of the color.....if in doubt......JA also carries soap dye and if mixed with oil,(a TBL. or two) you can use candle dye.
When you buy your soap.......don't buy the goats milk unless you plan on putting a fragrance in it. It is GOOD stuff but just 'bare' it DOES have an odor!!

If you use to much to make a really dark green it will. I know from experience. I made dark green bath salts for fellow teachers when I was a new teacher. It really turned one teacher green and not with jealously.
Art crafts stores sell colorings that are just for coloring soaps etc.I haven't had one of those turn anyone green yet.

We all have so many ideas which is nice to pick and choose.
When at your local thrift store you could look at frames many of them just need to be repainted or decorated then frame a picture, notecard, or art work from an old calendar.
A teacup could become a candle
an old shelf could become new again with paint and rub ons
since i have many book worms in my family i always check out the books.
A wool sweater can be come mittens.
a pretty glass plate can be given with cookies or fudge.
Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.Steph

Wow thanks everything these ideas are just fantastic. I'll take a picture and post up the coasters that would be fairly easy to duplicate, with the decorative stones you can find at the dollar store, I'm just trying to see where I could get the backing, its kind of like a weave material, then has a clear sticky background...yay for great ideas!
