    Question Christmas cards?

Just curious...who is planning to send out Christmas cards and who isn't?

I've sent them out EVERY year, faithfully...but if I'm honest with myself - I hate it! It's a ton of work (at a busy time of year) and the cost of stamps has gone through the roof!

I've already got some for this year, but I'm considering making it the last year. I was wondering if putting a small note in saying it will be the last year I mail them out is appropriate? And, if so, how should it be worded?

I think if I just went cold turkey, people would wonder what on earth happened to me...hahahaha... With e-mail and facebook, it just doesn't seem worth the time/money/effort to do cards. Dh and I aren't holiday-people, anyway.

I don't enjoy it either but we're not doing christmas gifts this year so I feel like I have to do something.

I'm doing Christmas cards because I love doing them. Today I bought the ones I am going to use for the FV card exchange!!

If you want this to be your last card year, you could say something like.......
...........................We are changing our communication style to keep up with the times - so this will be our last year of sending out Christmas Cards to friends and family. Our email is XXXXXXXXXX and we would love to be able to stay in touch electronically.

Or something to that effect. good luck

I like doing christmas cards, but I agree that it is a lot of work. Each year I cut back on who I send them to. This year I am going to cut back a little more and maybe send some electronically.

I usually don't do them but am in the FV card exchange this year.

I do a special card, designed by me with photoshop, for my email list but that is it......not even a 'newsy' letter.

Haven't done cards in years. But my whole family has almost put a halt to very much Xmas since we don't get together anymore. It is too hard. Just have to buy the stuff then mail it...too costly.

I give 'goodies' to friends around here and that is it.

I have several friends who e-mail cards/letters instead of mailing them. I like them just the same as snail mail.

That sounds good! I always have such a hard time coming up with "the right words". Sure don't want to hurt anyone's feelings! Most of the people I know are VERY into Christmas cards...and all things Christmas for that matter.

I send 15-20 cards, mostly long-distance friends and family. I send some e-cards too. There are a lot of fun, interactive ones. I start addressing them the day after Thanksgiving, doing a few each day, adding a note or letter to some of them, then I try to get them in the mail by Dec. 1st.

I'm the family "keeper of stuff and genealogy", so I send the siblings and grown nieces and nephews copies of old family photos in their cards, rather than sending gifts.

Not only do I send out Christmas cards, but I also send cards for Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. I try to remember to send birthday and anniversary cards, but sometimes these slip my mind.

Most people only get bills and junk mail from the postman, which are not fun things to get. Getting a card in the mail is a happy thing and brings a smile to the recipient's face. Cards are what I call "happy mail" and you can never receive enough happy mail.

Personally, the cost of postage doesn't bother me. Other than Christmas cards, I spend less than $20 each time I send them out. Christmas cards, on the other hand, I spend a LOT more on.

I always send them out. I have some elderly ladies that I know and they might not get anything from anyone even their family so I make it a point every year to send them one. I am one of those that thinks writing has become extinct. People have let the world of electronic mail take over. Older folks and I mean older folks those that cant afford it or want even try and I do know several, for instance, my mil for one who says she will never use one that is why she retired, they need that connection with the community. I go visit with them and I see that they may have one or two cards and several have out lived their families. I will never stop know matter how long I live because I might be one of those one day. That is I might live to be in my late 90's. I love picking out the cards every year and my dd loves helping me. Email is great but it does not have that personal connection, the love, and when you see that someone took the time to sit down and write a few lines and I always do I think they know how much they mean to you and your family. I display everyone of my cards from the time I get them right up to the first of the year. I put them all around my living room door so who every comes in see's them and I put the return address inside or on the back so they can look for theirs and at who else sent one. I am a proud paper pusher during the holidays. Watch out US mail here I come.

I'm a card sender. I love the Christmas season and sending cards gives me a way to stay in touch with those I don't get to see very often...lets them know I'm thinking about them.
