Nephews who have everything...
I'm hoping someone can give me some gift suggestions for my 10 and 13 year old nephews.
They are play station fanatics. For the last two years I have given them $75 each to buy whatever they want. Because they get so many gifts each year they don't remember who got them what.
Of course they say thank you, but it just seems so impersonal. Sure, I can buy them playstation games but that doesn't feel so great either.
I don't live close by so spending time with them is limited. Not sure I'll see them this Christmas either.
They play sports which their grandparents fund for them.
Any ideas will be much appreciated!

About this time my DS dropped scouts ,picked up a skateboard and started playing guitar. He loves to fish. My point is this is an age of "flux". You may want to ask the parents directly. Could you buy any sports tickets for that range? Would a video store card be any better, so they could rent or netflix. Impersonal was just what my DS wanted at that age.

Can you get them tickets/gift certificate to an indoor kids thing, like laser tag or something like that?
If all else fails you can get them clothes, like a sports jersey or something. I'd probably make a very boring aunt.

What about a gaming chair like THIS. You could have them shipped site to store, or directly to their house. I got my DBF one only a year ago (big into video games even at age 24) and he absolutely loved it. I'm sure if you looked at a few other stores you could find different variety as well

Gamefly~ It's sort of netflix for games. Buy them a year subscription (less than you are spending now) and they'll have new games to play all year.

When my nephews were that age I bought them sporting balls. One was a basketball and the other was a soccerball. See what sports they participate in and you can probably find something they might like. I bought balls because they played the sports and balls can get really beat up from all the abuse. One time I gave my nephew this really neat sports bag that expanded. He really loved it and took it everywhere much to his parents displeasure. The thing turned out to be huge when expanded. lol
Another year I got them different shirts that looked alot like soccer shirts. They really like the shirts. See if they like specific professional sports team. You could send them different items from their favorite sports team. Or tickets to see a sporting event. I once took them to see the Harlem Globetrotters. It was really fun.

These are all great suggestions. I think you're right, I'll start by asking the parents what they suggest and go from there.
It indeed is an age of flux and since I've never been a boy at that age I'm clueless!

I thought of an idea this morning to buy each nephew a magazine subscription. They enjoy receiving mail so that might be fun for them. Any suggestions on appropriate magazines for a 10 and 13 year old?

I suppose Hustler is considered inappropriate?

If they are both play-station fanatics you could get them a playstation or a gaming magazine. Magazines.com usually has pretty good deals on magazines too--here's a link: http://www.magazines.com/search/list...hrules=defaultMcD

With the parents permission I'd give them cash. They could get whatever they want. I guarantee their eyes would light up. I once did my son as a teenager even, took an old box ( perfect size ) and put, it was either 50 or 75 ones in it. He was thrilled to death.
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I have to concur with NikoSans - show 'em the money. I have a 14 year old (girl) but the favorite gift she gets is cash, giftcards and - oh yeah - cash. I know it isn't personal but it is ALWAYS appreciated. It'll actually make you the cool aunt.

I think this is a great idea! I have been buying subscriptions for my hard to buy for parents for several years. It is an easy gift to give and they really enjoy receiving the magazines. I get my dad a woodworking one and my mom a history one... Give their mom a call and ask what they are in to and you'll surely be able to find a magazine for them.
