Default Anyone starting your to make list for Christmans 2010

I know seems early but all gifts are finished, so now I dream and plan. Definitely making knit hats, and of course socks.

My personal challenge is to finish Christmas 2010 before I get distracted by this and that would be fun to do. Wouldn't it be great to say in July, the gifts are made?

Good for you, it's NEVER too early!

Hubby and I wrapped gifts and put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving, so we are also done; but we look for bargains or work on homemade gifts all year long and already have several purchased for next year.

This summer when K-Mart discounted everything with Martha Stewart's name on it (she's leaving K-Mart and taking her line of products to Lowe's), I found some great bargains that fit nicely into our family's $10 gift budget, so I've got a nice stash of things.

I recently went to a craft fair so I have some new ideas for 2010. I also give knitted dishcloths to a large number of friends/family, so they are always in the works.

Hats and mittens are made all year to give to local schools for their "mitten tree". I purchase thrift store/garage sale yarn, odds and ends given to me from friends, and will also unravel used sweaters to use them for these projects.

What is that old saying? "Idle hands are the devil's workshop?"

Well, I'm still finishing up the last of my 2009 gifts, but I do have ideas, and the fabric, for my 2010 gifts. I'm going to finish a quilt I started for myself 2 years ago right after the holidays, then I'm going to start working on gifts for next year. I have a couple of quilts planned and at least 1 table topper and table runner. I have lots of home dec fabric to make totes, so I hope to make a lot of those as well.

i wish i had the talent that you all have for more 'made from the heart' gifts....so until that 'magically' appears on my 'resume' i have to rely on ...(gasp).... store-bought items.....

while in normal times i shop for the perfect (of course bargains)..all yr long and many times i may even have an 'advanced yr or two worth of purchases for certain individuals'...this year i have painfully and slowly watched my gift closet go down because i have been able to stay out of the stores and out of my wallet (thanks to all of you)....hugs...(but on the flip side...gift closet down-bank account up)...it's all good!

i will hit the stores once or twice hard and heavy right after x-mas to try to grab things for x-mas 2010....at clearanced prices...then...if all goes well... i will be done...woohoo.....

and i do got to tell ya...it may sound funny planning so far ahead but there it an extremely 'liberating' feeling about going into december with all the presents purchased, paid for, even wrapped....there is much less 'holiday stress' and it makes things feel so much less 'rushed & panicked'......

I'm glad someone else started this because I've been sitting here secretly making gifts for 2010 !!!

I need to write up my official list - but I do know I want to make DD a blanket, so I will be knitting up squares here and there...

2010 is also the "year of the sewing machine" (it is... it says so on my calendar... overlook the fact that it mysteriously looks like my writing) so, I am hoping to add sewed gifts to the line... knit, crochet, baked, etc...

Are you kidding me? lol. I'm one of those people that can't buy ahead because I will want to give it to that person way before Christmas because I'm like a little kid. I just can't wait if I have it early.

But I can plan in my head and that's what I do. I know what everyone pretty much is getting, just haven't bought much yet. Like right now I bought my DH a MU sweat shirt and I need to wrap it like now.lol

I order on-line or I'm one of those people that shop and get everything done in one day and then I have to wrap it right away! I just can't stand things hiding in my house.

But also I'm not a crafty person so I can understand the reason why some start early.

I think I may start planning after this Christmas. I always wait until the last minute and it feels rushed and so stressful! This coming year I would like to learn how to Knit and crochet, also get better acquainted with my sewing machine and hopefully make some nice homemade gifts for everyone. Those are my big dreams! LOL

I'm thinking about next christmas, but not making the presents. I usually work durning the summer and $1,000 of that money goes toward christmas. Next summer, I'm not working. So, $1,000 of my no work summer fund is for christmas. I will put it in my Christmas account.

I'm only half way through my gift shopping for this year, but I'm thinking about the "projects & plans" I want to start in January. I did well with pulling $$ aside for Christmas shopping throughout the year, but not with buying gifts early. Hoping to get a jump on this during the after Christmas sales, but have a few extras already tucked away. Some are just too easy to shop for. I'm considering crafts & goodies I'd like to make for gifts & such. Plus, I'll be making lots of notes over the next few weeks for next year.

I decided that 2010 will be a COMPLETELY home-made holiday. If I didn't make it, I'm not giving it. I have a small list of people we give to every year and none of them need anything !!!

Lady V i love your idea!!! I have ideas for 2010 I need to write them down where i know i will remember where they are. I am leaning towards homemade food. I would like to do food baskets filled with easy snack mixes and goodies.

Bought yarn today for one of the many hats for next Christmas!
I'm making a list and until it's done no distractions!
