Remembering our Charlie Brown tree
I'm reminded each year of our Charlie Brown tree dh and I went into the bush to get when our older kids were quite young because our oldest son does the exact same thing and always ends up with a Charlie Brown tree.
You know what they are like, tall with few branches, decorated to cover those bare spots. We had one like that. We were in the bush and I spotted this beautiful tree. I was so cold and told dh, thats the one. I'm going back to the car.
You guessed it, he missed that one and came out with this tree. I was sitting in the car, warming up and didn't even notice. When we got home he said we needed to warm it up just a bit and so he put it in his workshop.
Around supper, he brought it in and low and behold, I was ready to take the ax to him!!! He had gotten the wrong tree. I cried for hours saying, we can't have a tree like that. Well after the long cry, I decided to string some popcorn, and fill all those bare spaces with decorations. It didn't look too bad after that, but dh never ever got a Charlie Brown tree after that. We went to artificial!!
Do you have a story about your Christmas tree?

What a cute story, cj!
We have always cut our own tre down until a few years ago. My mom and I would go get one. We went to this place a few times that was cool. In fact I am trying to find out if they are still there to take Tyler this year. Anyways... it was an older couple who really enjoyed the season. After you cut your tree and grug it out they always had you go in the house and they had it all decorated so nice... and they guy was always dressed as Santa and had a little gift for each kid. They has refreshments and cookies for you. It was very nice.
Since I moved out though, my parents just buy a tree already cut.
They won't go to an artificial... my dad is against them for some reason. He says if you have an artificial tree you should get artificial presents. LOLSherry

When we were first married and when the kids were young we used to always go to a firehouse where some group were selling trees. I just loved the smell of all of them and Dh holding them up and asking us all "this one?" over and over til we found the perfect tree. We have an artifical one now because the prices went way up. Ohh...the smell.

Oh, I wanted to add that my inlaws always had a charlie brown tree. Being as frugal as they are they would never pay for one.
Looking at their trees made me smile.~*Darlene*~

Ours have always been artifical but the first one we had was given to us by my aunt's mother in law. It was prob 35 years old at the time and had seen it's better days.It looked like a Charlie Brown tree even though it was not real.
But I must say...Our first christmas as a 'married couple' was the BEST Christmas ever!! Even though we did have a tree older than the both of us put together

From the ages of 13 to 17 I worked at a tree lot for extra xmas money and I always felt sorry for the Charlie Brown tree that had been looked over and left. So I always brought it home and put it in my room with a few decorations I had swiped off of the big tree.
