Do you let your kids/family open one gift on Christmas Eve?

We grew up doing this, but not sure if I want to do this with my children.

No we don't let them open a present on christmas eve at our house but we always go to my parents house on Chrstmas eve and they get to open presents there, and at a couple of friends houses. I personally don't put presents under the tree for my girls till Christmas eve night. The only presents under the tree till christmas eve night are things for people outside of our household. That way they think Santa brought them. My oldest is almost 13 now and she no longer believes but my 8 year old still does, and I think even after she no longer believes I will still wait.

We always opened presents with our grandparents in the next town over after dinner on Christmas Eve ,because Santa would stop in their town first. Then when we woke up Christmas morning, Santa would have made his way to our town and left things under our tree while we slept. It was a wonderful tradition because we celebrated with the extended family on Christmas Eve and it was wonderfully chaotic then nice and private the next morning.

Yes! We started doing this when I was a kid-we opened one gift from someone in the extended family. I liked doing it so much that I started doing it with my family too. I never could stand the suspense when younger, and now that I think of it, I'm still just as bad if not worse!
