I'm making
Chasing Fireflies: Bread in a Can
For my son's piano teacher, his Sunday school teacher, the kids church leader & his fine arts teacher.
For son's friends in Rangers, youth group & fine arts, he's giving them cocoa packets wrapped in these labels. We will attach a candy cane with a ribbon.
Envelopes for Hot Chocolate
Or these, which ever comes out to be the least expensive.

For my Grandmother and DH's Grandmother I am making pecan clusters. Here's the recipe I'm going to use. I will buy Rolos the day after Halloween to get them 50% off. Pecans I will wait till baking sale start.
Rolo Pretzel Turtles | Steamy Kitchen Recipes
I will be wrapping them in a simple brown paper lunch bag. Top folded down, two holes punched in a a red ribbon running through the hole. I will then take a label and glue stick it to the front of the bag and run it to the back like they do bags of coffee.
Here's the label

I will be making these gifts for the many on our "I need to give you a gift, but i'm really broke list"
Scottish Shortbread Mix in a Jar
This older recipe never fails to bring a smile.
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients, blending well. Store in an airtight container.
Attach this to the Jar
Scottish Shortbread
Makes 16 pieces
1 cup butter, softened
1 package Scottish Shortbread Mix
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Knead the butter into the
shortbread mix and press the mixture firmly into an 8-inch pie plate, or shortbread mold. Bake for 1 hour. The shortbread should be pale in color, not browned. Cut into wedges while still warm.
I will package them in brown paper lunch bags, top folded over, two holes punched in, a piece of torn plaid material strung through the holes and tied. I'll attach a recipe tag & stamp it with a Scotty dog. Came out to about 27 cents each.
This is what the pastor and his wife are getting. I will be using a tin from the dollar store. The only cost is the tin and the sugar since we get to eat the fruit.

Bavarian Mint Coffee Creamer
3/4 cup nondairy powdered creamer
3/4 cup sifted confectioner's sugar
1/2 cup Dutch process cocoa
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
Combine all ingredients in a container with a tight fitting lid. Shake to blend well-store in an airtight container. To serve: Stir 2 TBS. creamer into 6 ounces hot coffee. Yields 15 servings.
Homemade peppermint patties & homemade girl scout cookies. Also mint flavored hot cocoa mix.
DS2 I'll be making sugar-free versions
Cafe Vienna Flavored Creamer
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup dry milk or nondairy creamer
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Place all in a blender or food processor and whirl until combined. You can also place in a jar and shake well. Store in an airtight container. To serve: add 1-2 tsp. min into hot coffee and stir.
Russian tea:
1 cup instant tea mix (unsweetened and no lemon)
2 cups dry tang powder
1 pkg. lemonade, unsweetened powder
1 cup sugar
1 TBS. nutmeg
1 TBS. allspice
1 TBS. cinnamon
Mix all ingredients together and store in air tight container. To use, place 1-2 rounded teaspoons of dry mix to 1 mug of hot water. (You can use a shot of whiskey or spirits for hot toddy.)
Cafe' L'Orange:
2/3 cup instant coffee (I'll use decaf)
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. dried crushed orange peel
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Swiss Mocha:
1 cup instant coffee (decaf)
1 cup sugar
2 cups nonfat dry milk
4 tsp. cocoa powder

Love your post Polly!! I shall be using some of your ideas also!!
I have been making gifts since 12/26/09 and need to check my stock and lists - and probably should to see what I have and/or need. Mahalo for the nudge!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

1) I'm making a webkins carrier.
A bag with cut outs for the webkins to poke their little heads out of.
It is for my daughter. Little Miss had found something similar at the store. She waited until she thought she had enough. She remembered the store was having a sale. we found out latter it was a going out of business sale as when we showed up the store was empty. Little Miss was sad.
So I'm making her one for Christmas. I'm adding a new puppy webkins.
2) A mixed cd for Little Miss to go in her "new" cd case
3) A varation of snowman soup kits
white hot chocolate mix with a snowman face and scarf from fruit roll ups and candy. I'm going to make "melted' snowman ornaments to decorate the gift bag of the kits These will be for my MIL and FIL and my SIL her family and my BIL and his family.
4) My children will probably make melted snowman ornaments for their big lists of teachers."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

One thing for sure is a quilt. It has a large bear in the middle and a bunch of care bears and other bears around it. Its done in yellow and brown. The bear in the middle will say big bear hugs. Its going to the girl my son was going to marry. Her thing to say when she says good-bye is big bear hugs. My son use to tell her that. I don't know what else I'm doing yet.
FernYes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

Yeah, I like to make quilts for people, but no one realizes how much money it costs or time is invested.
I am making some fabric bowls and will put some small gifts inside them. Those will be for my cousin, one for my cousin's husband, and 2 for friends here at work. I am going to embroider some kitchen towels for some friends. I already have the towels, so no money spent there. I hope to do a few more, I'll have to wait and see how much time I have.~Kim~
