I think your last version was great, and I agree with Mary that you were sending conflicting messages with the "don't give our kids presents, but if you decide too..."
They don't really need to be told that second part anyway, because if sending presents to your children were that important, they'd do as I would do and gift them against your wishes.
I don't want anyone sending my husband and me Christmas presents so I might just have to go that route.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~
