Do you go to your company Christmas party?
We did a few times but stopped a number of years ago.
How about you?

The company I used to work for (CP Rail) only ever had a party for us employees each shift, not a huge company wide one. I never really got to participate, as I couldn't leave my desk for only a couple of minutes at a time. Just long enough for a ladies room run.

Dh's was last Saturday and we went.~~ Dee ~~

No......my company's party was last weekend. I work part-time
& have a long commute & didn't care about getting back in the
car & driving to it & then coming home late at night........instead
I did some Christmas shopping by myself so I had just as much
fun!!!

Mine's tomorrow and I was going to go, but, now I'm not. I'm new and I hate to make myself go just to feel awkward and know that I really didn't want to go...besides I've gained so much weight I just wouldn't be comfortable or confident meeting all those new people.

My dh's company won't be having a holiday party this year due to financial woes, but even if he did have one, spouses/S.O.'s aren't invited.

Yes, we do. DH isn't having one this year, but we went to mine. It was just a dinner and gift exchange, but it was fun!

LOL. Our are mandatory. At least for the soldier. They have to go, but how long you stay is optional. Ours is tonight.

Mine is a luncheon next Friday. No spouses and we will have a pollyanna exchange.
The last office I worked at went to fancy schmancy restaurants with spouses. Big dollars were spent at places DH and I would never in a million years go to.

Yes, actually ours was today, and I was there.

Mine was yesterday and I did not go because dh didn't get off work until midnight, and I didn't appreciate the way everyone at work was trying to pressure me into going.
I have recently been described as a introvert and I think that aptly describes me on most occassion.

From my experience (being 47 yrs. old) and working since I was 15, I say go, go, go, to company parties. It is a good way to get to socialize a little with other employees. If you want to "be by yourself" you usually can but if you want to dance with your dh or spend a little time talking to your coworkers about your family and your holiday plans then it opens up communication. It is usually noted by the owners, who showed up and who didn't.
I was always a shy person but I have learned over the years to overcome it. Yes, you may have to force yourself to be outgoing but in the end it usually benefits you.
I have gone to parties with or without dh and even if I didn't stay long I always ended up having a better connection with my coworkers.
We have gone to fancy resturants where we didn't feel comfortable but in return, all of us poor slobs had stuff to talk about when it was over and if they gave out gift baskets that was where they did it. Can you imagine paying $28.00 a person for a small piece of chicken and a salad? One of our employers did that and even gave out door prizes and gift baskets and gave us an overnight stay in a hotel cause it was away from home. Sheeese! We now knew why we made such low wages.
We aren't having a company party this year due to financial woes. But another company invites it's customers every year for a dinner and dance. We are all three going. Yippee! I can't wait.

My company has its holiday party at the home of our boss and his wife. Mrs. Mac does an awesome job decorating. I have been with this particular company since 1995 and have only attended 2 office holiday parties (last year in light of 9/11, it was held in the office). I declined attending this year, as my niece's birthday was 12/14 and we celebrated on 12/15, the same day as the party. I don't dislike my co-workers, but I suppose after 28 years of holiday parties, they can appear to be superficial at times. I do enjoy seeing how people dress, though!

When I worked we always had a holiday party and I always went.
Gabe once had a job where ya had to pay to attend their holiday party. What a joke. LOL
We didn't attend his last year's holiday party and I don't plan on it in the future. He is welcome to attend though. They are just too boring for me. (I attended one party)
