Default What was your WORST Christmas Gift?

Did anyone get anything that left them scratching their head thinking "What the Heck?"

My MIL got me a tigger fleece pullover....I haven't worn a fleece pullover since i was preggers 10 years ago...LOL.

I still have to have Christmas with my Dad next weekend, so I can't say that the tigger was my worse...my poor daddy and really step his game up when he wants to give you crappy gifts.

Can't wait to see how your Dad did. No flops here, only one present and that was a keeper for sure.

My Mother - granted I do not really talk to her much - graced us with a 16 inch tall pair of lead crystal candlesticks, and two different (ugly) hand blown bowls from Italy (Murano glass). These go SO well with my log-cabin in the woods of Vermont theme I've got going on. *sigh* and , no, don't give me the "thought that counts" - cause, really?!?!? I don't believe any thought was there.
I'm grateful she acknowledged me. I'm thankful she spoke to me after I called yesterday afternoon. Other than that, I have no idea what she's thinking. . .

No complaints here. My husband and I buy our own gifts, and my mom never goes wrong with a big, fat check. Which, come spring, is going to magically turn into part of a big, fat deck.

The worst was that my mom had accidentally put in the bag with Little Miss's American girl clothes a box marked "Kristen's clothes". My mom uses Kirsten St Lucia costume on a doll at her house every Christmas.

Little Miss has a hand me down Kristen from my mom and Kristen is retired as well as her clothes so Little Miss was so excited when she opened and saw what looked like Kristen's clothes and the box confirmed it. Well Grandma in one quick action boxed it up and took the box from Little Miss and said in a to loud and angry voice " that was a mistake" I am sure the angry voice was was because she was angry at herself for making the mistake but Little Miss did not know that.

Then the next present for Little Miss from my mom was hand me down rings. To which grandma says "Those are mine" meaning they are not new. Little Miss looked like but did not say" Are you going to take these back too?"

So I had her try one on so she would realize they were now hers. And it was to small and it is costume jewelry so it can not be sized.

So then my mom tries the ring on and it fits her which is fine but then she adds " I win! I am the smallest" and smiles.

When I was in high school, I specifically asked for a NON electric guitar. Repeatedly said NON electric. It was to be my only gift.

Not only did I get an electric guitar - it was orange, and there was no speaker. My dad had got it from a guy at work who was trying to unload it and assured him I didn't REALLY know what I wanted.

That was 40 years ago, and I've both forgiven Dad and moved on!

As I said on another thread a USED candle burner. I think what bothers me about it is that it is dirty and still has wax on it. I would not have thought twice if it was cleaned up. Also a name tag stand with a small cat on the bottom. Not sure where or how I would use it but I have one.

I have had some flops in the past, but none this year. If anything, *I* flopped a bit because I got my mother a coat, and it was too small. She keeps talking about how much weight she has lost, and I took her at her word. The coat can be returned/exchanged, so no real harm.

My husband talked repeatedly about where he saw iPads being sold, the various choices etc. I thought he was being way too obvious... Well, I was wrong. No iPad. He bought me an xbox/kinects and a zumba cd for it. I am still not sure why. It is a nice gift, I guess, but I am still confused as to how I was selected as the recipient. I think his daughter gave him the idea, because she wanted it. It did not make me feel special...

well i expect flops from my mil each year so no expectations and she gave me floating leave candles which was actually not bad i will put in the fall decor box and do someting with in the fall.

she gave my 17 yo one of those rock tumbler things that is for maybe a 10-12 yo - i think she found it cleaning out an attic etc because i can tell its older - he is looking at colleges -what he is going to do with that at this point in his life it made more sense for my 10 yo - hmmm i dont know what she gave the 10 yo LOL

we will probably donate it next year to our youngests school to be sold in the regift section

i have told my kids some people just arent good at gift giving - and that is why i am training them to really think about each person and what they like etc when i have them buy gifts for people . so they can be good gift givers .
