Oh my... I am in heaven. Well, I was until we ate all of it. I got a plate of homemade candy from my coffee buddy. I gave her some homemade sugar scrubs. It is really funny because we both think we got the better gift.
I also gave the homemade sugar scrubs to a cousin. She is so excited. She has been having some money troubles and hasn't been able to afford fancy things like that.
Of course, that was his family. We are doing xmas with my family next week. They are getting sugar scrubs also. I am sure they will turn their noses up at it.Beak-1996, Toad-1998, and Q-1998

I received homemade peanut chipotle brittle and toasted coconut and caramel encrusted marshallows from a choir members and peanut butter fudge from my bff. I really enjoy both of them a little too much.

My pumpkin breads went over well with the choir and my clients (that I've heard back from). My choir director loved the homemade Baileys
so he'll be getting that again.
I think that as I find recipes that go over well, I'll stick with them and make them my standard gift.
I also learned to make a good pumpkin cheesecake which I gave and was well received. The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

I didn't make any handmade gifts this year, but I did receive the most beautiful, comfy and warmest pair of crocheted slipper booties that I just love.

My new boyfriends mother made me a beautiful "collar"...kind of like a scarf but its round, one piece. and she paints "things". She painted my house number on a rock. i LOVE both gifts. The rock is almost too pretty to put outside. Think it would be too much to ask her to make me a matching hat to go with the collar? LOL
This was the first year in many years that I made and gave homemade gifts. I picked up glass mugs at the Christmas Tree Shop and found a home made hot chocolate recipe. I added a couple chocolates and tied it up with a pretty ribbon. I made 17 of them! and everyone seemed to like it. I like alot of "Ouus and Ahhs".
I kept the receipts and I want to go back and find out how much each gift cost me to make.Judy

My DD received a beautiful scarf, knitted by a very sweet person here at FV. It was her number one favorite gift. She has worn it all day, everyday, and absolutely everywhere since she opened it Christmas morning. She has shown it off to her friends at college and they are jealous.
(P.S. Thanks again Ms. McD - you not only made her day, you made her year! She may very well be wearing it in June when our temps are in the high 90's.)DD (19)

I make my uncle, mom, grandfather, and dad a photo calendar every year. They all got upset the year I did not so them so now I make sure I get them made no matter what.
I did not make it, but I had a photo collage mug made for my niece, per her request. I also had a woven blanket made with a photo of my aunt, her mom, daughter and two granddaughters on it. It was by far the biggest hit.
We gave my dad/step-mom and MIL/FIL each a digital frame loaded with 200-300 pictures.
My niece made us a batch of holiday candies and cupcakes. Yummm....
I gave my BFF who has stage 4 liver, lung, brain, breast and bone cancer a scrapbook I made with pictures of her two toddlers, her hubby, her wedding, other family members, etc...I left several journal pages blank in it so she can write whatever she wants to her boys and hubby in it.DD (19)

I got many handmade gifts this year, including:
hand knitted dishcloth and potholders
basket of various jams/jellys/breads
photo calendar of family (lots of old pictures of loved ones since gone)
I loved them all - hounding my friend for the recipes to her jams/jellies and breads, but she's being very secretive. The photo calendar had me crying and laughing at the same time. . .and the hand knit kitchen items will be well used!
I gave some homemade gifts as well. . .
frozen cookie dough (with directions for thawing/baking later - got that idea from a thread here!) They loved it! Glad to have something for "later".
Denim circle throws - again, idea/pattern from a thread here. y They were thrilled . Lots of oooh's and aaah's and comparing various fabrics in each.
I also did some small cards/poems/tiny items -for handing out to store clerks, mailmen, etc. They all seemed surprised, and glad to get a token gift.

Received homemade gifts from DS and DDs (made in art at school) and always love handmade gifts from the heart. I gave mostly handmade gifts, although purchased on Etsy and not made by me. I am not very crafty but like to support handmade and small businesses and found many gifts on Etsy for under $10 each.
