Arrow What do you want as a Christmas gift?

Besides health and peace, for Christmas I want some new pictures for the walls.
I realize many have a deeper reason for the season, but I am posting this just for fun.

Well, as usual, I wanted books!!!! I'm a book fiend!

I always have a little "wish list" in my head...however many of the items are hard for dh to find...not available locally, out of print, whatever...he will NOT order gifts (requires planning ahead, lol!!!!) so it has to be something in the stores...I splurged and bought myself a grain grinder last month (hand powered) and consider that part of my gift...then I went with dh shopping yesterday I told him he could spend $60...or so (ended up being the or so, grin)

I walked him through the stores starting with Walmart showing him a number of items (showed him a cake pan, a silverware set, a box of 100 cookie cutters--only $8!; a fish tank; a big thermometer for outside...and let him KNOW that the silverware set and the cookie cutter set was a "holiday" special they would not have after Christmas in other words GET THOSE! lol!
(I KNOW he did, but I'm not supposed to know, ya know???) I know he bought candy too...shhhh I mean duh, it's obvious by the way the package feels!

Then on to Books a Million...I went through, showed him a stack of books I'd like...and narrowed that down to two...since I knew he wasn't willing to spend all the remaining $ there since he was going to another store as well...I could see by the size of the book what one he bought...lol, aren't I bad?

On to another big book and video store...he knew a couple videos are on my wish list...I'm not supposed to know he found one (but goodness, I'm a woman, I read minds, lol..no I didn't peek at the package...I just have a good phsycic talent at Christmas time when it comes to this stuff, lol) Also walked around and found a whole STACK of books there...some I'd never seen and they caught my attention there on the spot, ha ha...but I know I'll enjoy them. All are non-fiction a couple off the bargain table...gorgeous books! The book he didn't get at the OTHER store I slipped into the stack there, ha ha!!!

I really don't care that stuff is not a surprise....I'd rather have it this way and get stuff I will enjoy. DH would prefer it all to be a surprise but that doesn't matter to me. It's more like I have "permission" to get things that I don't need!

Then I went to Blockbuster--they had half off all previously viewed videos on sale--and we bought 7 shows for $30 to put under the tree. We all know what they are--even the little one since he was along--but we'll enjoy them. (See spot run, spy kids, Miss Congeniality; Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Dangerous Beauty--didn't put that under the tree, put it up out of children's reach, lol; and a couple others I don't recall what offhand...)

I would also like copies of MOre with Less and Not just Beans but no one in town carries them...I would like copies of some of the Foxfire books as well as the Foxfire cookbook but KNEW dh wouldn't find them "glamourous" enough...he passes over requests like that for others on the list, lol...then one cd I want will have to be ordered someday...no one in town carries the line...but these are things that are not urgent...I can get them sometime next year (and I have a birthday nine days after Christmas too. I'm going to see if dh will give me a BAM gift certificate to order the books I want!

Honestly I just want silly little kitchen stuff.

I want a funnel for when I have to pour concentrated juice into an old juice bottle.

I want 8-10 more cheapie sippy cups from K-mart.

I want some plastic spoons to cook with. Not the slotted kind, for some reason we have lots of those.

I want a bottle opener.

I want dish clothes.

I want one of those sweater shaver things that shave the "pills" off of clothes.

See, just stupid little stuff. I would much rather have this useful stuff than something that will just collect dust.

Well I must confess....I asked DH for a bigger diamond wedding ring. I got married with the solitaire he gave me for my 17th birthday..when we moved a short time later I smashed my ring and bent the setting so my diamond fell out its sitting in the dresser for 5 years now. So for my 23 birthday he bought me a nice little heart ring to get me by til my ring was fixed.Well now I am really wanting a big elegant wedding ring and thats what I asked for Christmas. Since I know I won't be getting it I asked for a new jacket.

I know I probably seem shallow right now,and I am I guess but he agreed I deserve a big one A girl can dream right???
