The Christmas Quilt by Thomas J. Davis - I've never read any of his books, but I'm going to be reading this one also this weekend.

Here is the write-up: This tender, compelling and unforgetable story follows seven months in the lives of a family from the mountains of north Georgia.

It all started in the summer of 1942 when Uncle Joe said he might come home for Christmas. During that time, a young boy learns about love, loss and the simple pleasures of family as his grandmother pieces together a special quilt for Uncle Joe, her long-gone but never forgotten son.

This heartwarming celebration of a simpler time inclused Sunday dinners after church, picking blackberries from the cool, dark earth, revival meetings and the tireless artistry of Grandma as she creates a gift that comes from the heart. This gentle book tells the real story of what it means to be a family.

This one sounds like a must read for those who want to be reminded of the simpler times!! Another read for me this weekend.
