Question What do you eat Christmas morning?

I have my orange juice when I come downstairs. After the presents are opened we sit down to a nice big breakast (usually around 9:30-10:00 am) We have:

    ~Christmas Breakfast casserole
    ~Freshly squeezed orange juice
    ~apple juice
    ~coffee for DH
    ~fresh fruit salad
    ~cinnamon buns

What are your plans for Christmas breakfast?

Growing up we always had a huge family brunch with sausages, eggs, crepes and fresh fruit and juices. I really wanted to continue that family tradition, but we usually go to MIL's for Christmas morning, so we have started our own little tradition here. Since we get up early in order to have some quiet time before heading out, I buy the Rhodes Cinnamon Rolls and let them rise all night. In the morning I pop them into the oven and they bake while we visit and listen to Christmas music while doing our devotions. We also have banana bread and cranberry orange bread along with juices, coffee, milk and fruit. Later, at MIL's we have a big breakfast casserole, donuts and snacks.

We mostly don't eat Christmas morning- by the time we open gifts at our place, then head to either my parent's or his parent's for lunch. . . . there isn't time or inclination.

I make a breakfast casserole of some sort the night before, and pop it in the oven when we get up. We have coffee or juice with it. Here's one we liked that was a little bit different- not just the standard eggs and sausage, but more the consistancy of bread pudding: http://christmas.allrecipes.com/AZ/TexasEggs.asp

Normally, we eat at 9:30 or 10am after opening gifts and enjoying some nice quiet time. (I believe that will be changing next year when Maria realizes what's going on! )

One year, DH (a cop) had to work on Christmas, so we got up at 4am to open gifts, then after he went to work I made the breakfast casserole and we ate it at the police station. How many people can say they've spent their Christmas riding around in a patrol car? LOL!

I'm a bad mom. Christmas day is the only day of the year Alex may eat as much candy for breakfast if she wants. So I down as much coffee as I want, usually followed with an M&M chaser.

Pierre and I usually make home-made waffles, after unwrapping the gifts. We've been doing it for at least 5 years now. The boys love it!

Lori, I'm so glad you got Christmas off...You mean, you usually work on Christmas day?....You really are a hard working woman.

Sometimes we have a big breakfast with eggs, biscuits, sausage, bacon, oj, and grits for DH.

Sometimes I just make cinnamon rolls.

We have date nut bread (have every year since I was growing up) and cranberry bread. We don't do a big breakfast because we're usually rushing around to get to my IL's house

We / I usually just have a lite breakfast to stoke the furnace until Christmas dinner. However, reading these posts reminded me of THE BEST Christmas breakfast we've had in quite some time.

Picture it: Christmas 1993. Some snow on the ground, and weather reports of sleet & freezing rain. My brother and his family (spouse & 3 kids) and my sister and her family (spouse and 2 boys, DS is expecting baby #3 in the coming April 1994). After gifts, stockings and Christmas dinner, both families try getting home to their respective abodes. With the bad weather, it doesn't work. Both families turn back and spend 12/25 at Mom's house. The next morning we have French toast, eggs, bacon, juice, coffee, home-made sausage from Southern Maryland. It was so delicious, and I think we had more fun on 12/26 than the previous couple of days. No stress, and we all were enjoying the company, the food, and gifts. I tell this story to my niece Lydia, who was born 4/24/94. I tell her that she was still sleeping in her Mommy's tummy at Christmas 1993 and about the breakfast we had after Christmas. She pipes up, "Yes, I remember that's when I first started to like coffee!"
