Default White elephant gift exchange this year!

    Hi All,
We decided to try something new here at home. Last year we did a white elephant exchange at MIL's house at Christmas. Since we have decided to stay home for Christmas this year, we decided to do it here with our little family. Each family member is being given $2 and they have to find a gift in the dollar store. We'll draw numbers and each gift can be stolen twice from the original person who picks it. I told my hubby I'm getting Pepto Bismol and Exlax!!!! We'll see how many fights we have over that!!!!

The boys took one look at me when I suggested we do this, got really excited and then said "Mom, promise you won't buy those "lady products!". Do they know their mother's warped sense of humor or what?????

We used to do a version of that at dmil's house. Only we'd buy like a $10 gift and it would be something that someone would want. We'd draw numbers and each gift would be numbered. You'd get to steal a gift or unwrap a gift. There would be some real noise made over that gifting game!

Enjoy your white elephant exchange Debbie. The kids should enjoy that I agree with the boys though, no female products

These boys all have my warped sense of humor also, so it should be interesting to see what they come up with themselves! The goal is to be as outrageous as possible!!! Knowing my boys, they will come up with something really funny!!! Poor DH has to put up with all us nuts!!!

back home we do a white elephant too. only ours is a rubber chicken. When you get the rubber chicken you don't have to buy gift the next year for the swap. You repackage the chicken and regift it. Everyone else buys a gift for the exchange. You can "steal" gifts....sort of like a forced trade, or you can trade twice, gifts are numbered and it starts out as pulling numbers for the gifts. Noone is to know who wrapped what package. We do this a week before christmas or as late as christmas eve. i haven't gotten to participate since i live out of state.

I love this idea. We do it at our work Christmas party and it is so much fun. I haven't tried it with the family, but I am sure it would be just as fun.

I like the idea of the rubber chicken too.
