Default Any holiday disasters or oddities? lol

Nothing too eventful over at the Noel household. I did bake some sugar cookie cutouts last night and couldn't find a cookie cutter in the house. lol I ended up using a juice glass, so all the little cookies were round.

Then I lost my icing recipe, so turned to allrecipes (who btw always steers me wrong) I followed one recipe and yuck...it had way too much vanilla. Luckily, I had only iced half of them, so there were still plenty that didn't taste yucko.

Dinner is almost ready over here, so not sure if I will have any further disasters. lol So far not too bad.

Thank goodness the kids are bigger now so there are no problems with batteries or anything else. Ds just said to me yesterday that very year I messed something up when they were little like forgetting the adaptors for the playstation or something like that where they just had to wish they could play with the great gift they received, but couldn't because everything was closed on CHristmas Day, pretty sad huh.

I cooked yesterday so now problems there, today is just gonna be a fun day using my digital camera and I am determined to saw a piece of wood with my new saw!!! I can't wai to do this.

The only problem here is that we open presents on Christmas Eve here, and the mess continues to stare at me fromt he living room, better go cleamn it up so I can play! I sure hope I dont need adaptors or batteries for my saw...it sould serve me right tho...

We opened all our presents last night, I got 4 more cookie jars..WOHOOO. But it's a good thing we did it last night because I am feeling really bad today. I didn't even go to my grandma's today because I was afraid I would get everyone sick..yuck. So other than that and a little baby spitup everything went great.

No problems here but had quite a coincidence...

Dee made me this great apron with a pretty apple pattern on it for my birthday. I was wearing it when my Bil stopped by today. He looked at me a little funny but I let it pass. Comes time to open gifts and inside one of my packages is a homemade apron made from the same material, just a little longer with only one pocket. I couldn't believe it.Lol!!!

We opened presents here this morning- then went to my son's to exchange gifts there with other family members who couldln't make it on Monday night. As we are driving along I suddenly remembered that 2 of the biggest gifts we had gotten our younger 2 kids had not been put under the tree. Dh drove back home and got them for the exchange at Jake's.

Well, we did have a big ol disaster here. My BIL and SIL had said they were going to stop by this morning on their way to Jeff's parents (we spent Christmas Eve with the rest of Jeff's family). BIL pulls into the driveway and there is smoke coming out from under the hood of their truck!!! Radiator problem. So BIL and hubby jerry rig the thing and send water with them when they leave. 20 minutes later we get a call for help. BIL needs tools and more water to further jerry rig the thing. So DH takes off again and they think it will make it to the inlaws. They also have their big dog and 2 five week old puppies with them. Hubby makes it back home and we get another call. They have broke down again so hubby tows them into the closest town near where they have broke down and drives them home (1 1/2 hours away). I just feel awful for them!!! They didn't even get to spend any time with the rest of the family and MIL had a meal ready and waiting for them. Now the topper, my other SIL calls and says that my DH said he'd bring their gifts from the stranded BIL down this Friday to them on his way to work, but SIL can't wait and wants her presents now, so they are coming out here tonight (late) to pick them up! I just can't believe all she is concerned about are the presents!!! DH just got home after being gone 4 hours so I need to get going and spend some time with him before the selfish SIL arrives!!!

That stupid little string that goes around the bird - NEVER trust that string!! It sawed through my turkey & we lost half our stuffing!!

Other than that - smooth sailing!!

We opened gifts last night, good thing.. dd is sick today, she thru~up all night last night...... I put off our Christmas dinner till she is better...... Maybe this weekend... I want her to be able to have dinner with us........

I got some odd gifts from dh, he really likes them... but.........
This may sound odd but he bought these "Glad Ovenware" They are kinda neat.... He says he is going to fill them with OAMC..... That is an awesome gift.... However.... These things are expensive...... They are like 2 in a pack for $10.00...... Ouch.... I want to take them back and get a ton of those aluminum trays instead..... but dh thinks they are so neat..... I was almost horrified when I heard he had spent $20.00 on 5 pieces of this stuff.... It just goes against my frugal nature.....

Nothing major here. The only thing that went wrong was Dakota's "big" present doesn't work so now I have to fight the return crowd at Wal-Mart tomorrow to return it for another one or something else. I think he has already made his mind up that he wants something else. I plan on getting up early so maybe I want have to stand in line so long. I hate returning things.

No disasters here either. Mom cooked a 20# turkey and only Jack and I showed up, so only 4 for dinner. My cats had a ball this morning playing with all their toys. They were just too funny! Good day all around!

We found out at 9 this morning that my MIL wasn't invited (as she usually is) to my FIL's (they're divorced). So....we needed to go to my FIL's (45 min away), then travel 45 more minutes to my MIL's house, and then back north to my brother's house. Having to go to my MIL's made my brother's visit later--and my parents are staying with him for the time they're here, so my mother got mad at me this morning when I called to tell them that we would be a couple of hours later than we thought.

Other than that, no other problems.

I am so happy that Christmas is over though.

Well, I had to throw out three different batches of cookie dough I decided to try some different recipes this year and got them off an internet site, big mistake! Three of them were total disasters, yuck they tasted awful and I feel so bad because all those ingredients were wasted and so was the money that paid for them, ugh I will be using only tried and true recipes next year.
I got dd an expander thingy for the nintendo and it doesn't work, and poor dd lost one piece of a beautiful puzzle that she spent two days putting together, she's been hunting for it all over the house.
    Otherwise things were ok here
