*Updated*Dave's Christmas Quilt (Top)
I finished this today

I should have started with something this easy loooong ago. Definitely a great feeling to have accomplished something.
Excuse the wrinkles--it's just the way I have it laid out on my table.
There are actually two more rows that I couldn't fit in the picture.
Dave loves to play cards, so I know he'll love this

Closeup of the fabrics.
I've had these fabrics in my stash for a long time, so there is no cost to me right now in making this.
I have some flannel card fabric that I'd like to make a pair of pants out of for him too. I hope I can figure that one out.

Really Cute Michelle!
What size are your squares?
I was thinking of making dh a lap quilt with Nascar material and this looks like a great pattern for it."Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibity."

Thanks Ladies

The squares are 6 1/2" (right? they were 7" before I sewed them up). I think that would be a great quilt, Dolphin!

Michelle, awesome!!! What a wonderful job.

Now how would you recommend I quilt it? This will be my first time actually quilting something. I seem to piece things together but have never quilted (other than on the machine in the ditch on a quillow).

If it was me (btw - check your pms) I wouldn't quilt the solid blocks. I would quilt around each card - just outside the card or you could also do it just inside the card. I think it would have more effect though just outside the card.

I also notice there are dice there. I'd do the exact same thing. Just a tad bit outside of the dice.
I'm one for highlighting the pattern in the material. I love the effect it has on a quilt.
What color binding are you going to use?

It's great! I love the fabric choices too. They go really well together. You did an awesome job.

Binding color...I'm not sure. The backing will be black with a really pretty (but subtle) gray scroll pattern on it.
What do you think?
I'm also considering a border too...

Michelle, I would use the backing also for the border. Then I would use a solid red or a solid black for the border. You don't want either the border or the binding to take away from the cards, kwim. They are the focus point of the quilt and so well done with the solid color.
Everytime I look at this quilt, I'm drawn immediately to the card material.
I have to say again, you did a wonderful job.
