Christmas Stars: Ideas Needed!
Our theme at work this year for holiday decorations will be stars. Keeping in mind that we're a county facility (nursing home), and therefore can't get religious in our decorating.... does anyone have any ideas for star decorations? (Keeping the religion out of Christmas still confuses me.... but that's a whole different topic!
)
So, I'm off to surf in a few minutes for some star decorations. We need things that we can help the residents make with very basic craft materials (paper, glue, cardboard, glitter, etc) -- on an elementary level of crafting.
For centerpieces, we're thinking of cutting stars out of various sizes of thin styrofoam or cardboard, painting them gold and silver, and stacking them up from biggest to smallest, forming a sort of Christmas tree shape. We've probably put a little dowel rod or straw or something in the center to anchor them all together.
We still will have to decorate all the hallways, 58 doors, 6 trees, and 2 tv lounges. We'll probably string paper stars together and make garlands.
Any other ideas of easy star-themed crafts would be appreciated!

How about making the cinnamon ornaments in star shapes?
For their doors, how about placing each resident's picture in a star shaped poster board frame on the door?

I'm back! Thanks for the ideas! Kat I probably was on the enchanted learning site at the same time you were, lol!
I will look into the clay ($$). And I like the cinnamon dough idea, too.
In case these are of use to anyone else, here are the links/ideas I've found so far:

I'll be working on this for a while, so any & all ideas are welcome!

I like that site, I can often find themed ideas there that can be adapted to use with my residents.
